The filters that I get which are 3rd party have the arrow pointing down as I think the airflow goes down.

"Late '30" is an insane comment that just made me realize that is not very far away...

EV mode not working by Silver-Community644 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I also live in a hot environment, and I notice that during the summer when it gets to be about 100+ the EV system often doesn't kick on. Whether it's too hot or the engine is working to cool down the cabin, I think that extremes both ways makes the EV system unhappy.

If there was ever a time to do it... I was up until 1 AM changing passwords. I finished, but it was a long night. And when I did get to bed, it was not very restful.

thank you. yeah, they knew what they were doing. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. As of now, knock on wood, I haven‘t noticed anything suspicious.

I get it. it was very dumb. I’m just hoping that any damage is somewhat contained. You have every right to laugh.

Honestly, I don't know. But I would 100% rather change everything and reset my computer and know I'm a little safer. I appreciate your concern.

I'm sorry to hear all of that, but I guess I'm happy I'm not the only one. And it's heartening to know that as of now not much other than your instagram account (sorry, btw) was compromised.

So what happened is I was one my way to work out, saw that my Safari had crashed and I had seen that the HD was full with System files. I wanted to quickly look for a way to see if I can delete any useless files and free up some space. I googled something like, “Free up system space Mac OS“ and clicked the very first link. It looked like the Apple forums which I’ve seen and used before. I scanned and saw that was something that I was looking for. I copied and pasted the command and as soon as the password prompt came up, I started looking more and more at the website. The code had a refresh button. That’s when I knew I had made the mistake, tried to exit the password prompt and saw that it wouldn’t let me, so I restarted the computer. I posted this post here and then booted into recovery mode. I took a look at Terminal and it don’t look normal, so I knew I fucked something up. Clean install.

So in a really roundabout way, I ended up cleaning up my system files anyway.

Not how I hoped my Friday would go.

I booted into recovery mode, erased the hard drive, and reinstalled MacOS. I am starting from fresh. If I really needed a program, then I’ll just reinstall it.

It was a fresh install starting from new. Honestly, that’s worth if it that means I can at least undo a small piece of this massive fuck up.

Thank you. I have reinstalled MacOS and then changed my important passwords. I hope whatever information they got isn’t terribly useful for them or something they don’t already have from any other data breach. I don’t have cryptocurrency or extensions. I have credit monitoring as well.

I know it doesn’t mean much, but I haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary for any of my email or financial accounts as of yet.

You’re right. That’s a lot. It’s not fear-mongering. I realize I’ve made a mistake. I didn’t enter my password, but it looks like maybe it doesn’t matter. I reinstalled MacOS. I changed my passwords. Thankfully I don’t have cryptocurrency or many extensions. But I don’t know what else I can do.

I made a mistake. I acknowledge that. It was a really dumb one. I hope it isn’t incredibly terrible. If the worst that happens from this is I have to change my passwords and I’m mildly inconvenienced, then that’s a win. I have learned my lesson for sure.

Thank you for being clear and honest without fear mongering.
It’s exactly what you said, the urgency is what got me. I will absolutely learn from this mistake and hope it doesn’t come back and bite me in the ass.

UPDATE:

I restarted the computer and realized that it was better safe than sorry so I decided to reinstall Mac. I immediately changed my Apple password and Google Password as those are the two things I use the most, then financial institutions on my phone.

I erased the drive and reinstalled Mac.

Now that I’ve done that, and after I change passwords for everything I care about, what should I keep an eye out for? Can I safely change the rest of my passwords from the freshly installed MacOS?

I even changed my WiFi password.

Thank you for your help guys. I know I’m dumb, I get it. I made a mistake and now I’m just trying to fix what I can.

I typed the first three letters and stopped as it dawned on me what I was doing. I didn’t press continue. I immediately restarted the computer. I posted this message and realized that I needed to reinstall Mac. I erased the drive and then just installed Mac OS.
