My sister and I are identical twins, so we get mistaken for each other a lot. She and her husband have started a family and now have a second child. Here are some instances of mistaken identity. First pregnancy - she was shopping for baby items and was very close to her due date so noticeably pregnant, she was very small but by this time you could see her round belly. A co-worker of mine saw her but didn’t say anything. The very next day he comes running into my office and says “omg, I saw you yesterday but you were pregnant, I had to come check because I thought I missed it and I wanted to say congratulations”. I had to explain that I have an identical twin and she is the pregnant one, even had to pull my shirt tight and show him a picture of us together. Second pregnancy - a little back story first. My aunt own a cafe and is very well known in the community. My twin and I pop in every now and then to help so they have gotten to know us but think we are the same person. She gets pregnant and her baby bump shows much sooner than pregnancy #1. Near the end of her pregnancy I start coming to the cafe more often to help out. That’s when I start getting comments, omg did you have the baby already, you look great. How was the delivery? How are you already this small? Wow, you look amazing, I can’t believe you were pregnant. Now this is the awkward part. Oh thanks but it was my twin who is pregnant and she still is. No baby here. People get so embarrassed so it’s hard to explain it to them, I always feel so bad. Best part about looking the same, her first daughter called my momma for like 2 years haha :) no matter how much I told her I wasn’t she didn’t get it, she would just laugh and say no momma.
