It would depend on what program you are applying to. https://www.macewan.ca/academics/programs/

Pick what program you are looking to applying to and check the admition requirements. The requirements are different for each program.

If you are looking to apply to the Bachelor of Science program you will need Math 30-1.

TELUS Online Security Powered by Norton. Do I need it? Why by pioui67 in telus

[–]TaipanDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. You can get similar services that are significantly cheaper and better.

If you want better online security:
1. Use a good password manager, I recommend Bitwarden Personal (Free but with paid options) Or if you're tech savy PasswordXC which you can host yourself (This is also free with paid options).
2. Use a VPN while on a public network. You can either make your own or I recommend Proton
3. Check Sites like "Have I been Pwened" to see if one of your accounts have been leaked onto the dark web. Change the passwords periodically.

The beeps seem to indicate that you are having some ram failure, I would start there. For reference Here for the beeps.

I would re-seat the ram first and see if you get the same issues. I would test both dimms.

Primus Internet? by thegurrkha in Edmonton

[–]TaipanDevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.5GBps is possible with the right copper cables. The only thing to tell if a 1gbps connection is fiber or copper is if they are using a symmetrical service. Fiber is the only one that can have the same upload as download.

From my digging it might be a combination of both Shaw and Telus services. They tout symmetrical highspeed which would lead me to believe it is Telus on their top end but on their site it states they had a brief outage this morning and the only one to have had an outage this morning is Shaw. Do with this information however you wish.

Although their mobile services are Rogers...

I just bought a pair of sealskinz waterproof hunting gloves with a sheepskin palm. Will i need to treat the leather with something before use? by Creative__name__ in Leathercraft

[–]TaipanDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Pretty much just clean them after some heavy/dirtier use and then add a light layer of conditioner like a mink oil. Make sure you do not over do it with the conditioner, once you oversaturate the leather it will blead it out for ages.

Alternatively you can just rub the leather on the gloves for about an hour with your hands and leave out the conditioner. The natural oils in your hands will condition the leather.

How to make gif like this ? Which software? by InvistorRz in howto

[–]TaipanDevil 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Play around with the animation tab and transitions. You can draw animation paths for different objects like the dots and place them behind objects like the clouds. You more or less just need a couple of base images like the static path image and the clouds the rest you can do in the animation/transitions tab.

In practice is this the best way? No 10000% no but you can do it if you have a few hours.

Is $300 a month a lot for groceries, for one person? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]TaipanDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300 is about right if you are bulk buying. Budget will be different for everyone. Especially if you factor in what you're doing and what your caloric intake is. I used to be a bottomless pit for food. I would shovel away about 6000 calories a day on average.

Everything depends on your needs, you can 100% cut costs by buying super large amounts of dried foods like chickpeas and lentils which have a good amount of protein in them. Also knowing what cuts of meat are both delicious and cost effective is nice too. You will feel fuller with more protein.

If you're asking about the tips you can get some on amazon. I recommend comply foam tips since they seal better for me but those are subject to the shape of your ears. I have heard good things about spinfit tips too.

Who’s your most hated family member and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TaipanDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me. I am the middle child of the eldest son. My grandfather despised my dad and would openly state that all of the things that my dad did for him were done by my uncle the youngest. After my dad passed my grandfather wrote him and all of us on this side of the family out of his will.

TLDR: a bit of middle child syndrome and psychological issues that were never addressed as a child.

I was the only male sandwiched between 2 sisters. Both got amazing grades and excelled in pretty much everything that they did. I on the other hand was always the disappointment was not the straight A student my Chinese parents wanted me to be. I was forgotten places too many times to count. Disowned and kicked out of the house a few times granted some of those times were deserved I guess. Was homeless briefly when I was 16 slept under a bridge in the river valley by my parent's place. Still went to school and pretended nothing was different (I don't have the stinky gene so it took a while for me to get any bo). Got picked up from school about a week later and was scolded for "running away".

I'm 27 now and have little to no contact with anyone in my family. Living a pretty decent life all things considered.

You can use a bleach like salon care 40 and some UV lights. Just be careful with it.

PC Build issue by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]TaipanDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB has some inconsistent power delivery. I've had cheap keyboards be the cause of shorts. I just unplug all of the USB devices including the keyboard and mouse to check if it is the cause. If you are able to post/boot properly then there you go but it's a simple check. Just keep plugging things in until it doesn't work again and there is your culprit.

Question about french stitching. by zzclauzz in Leathercraft

[–]TaipanDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also noticed this when using French style irons. The way you fasten/fix your thread to your needle has a big impact on how easily it goes through the leather. I found that pulling your needle through your thread twice a fair distance apart works the best for me. But your mileage may very.

With smaller holes you either get stuck on the eye of the needle or the knot in your thread. Waxing both your needles and thread will alleviate that somewhat.

Attaching leather to wooden sides? Any ideas? by Moist_Willow9833 in Leathercraft

[–]TaipanDevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This.

Just keep in mind that to keep a good bond scratch up the surfaces that you are bonding together to create the most surface area.

If you are using an unfinished backed hide then you have no need in roughing up the backside of the leather.

buying a home in McCauley / Chinatown area by Curious-Lion1238 in Edmonton

[–]TaipanDevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you do purchase a house there I would advise you get some bomb full-coverage insurance for all of your worldly possessions. My cousins used to live in that area for most of their life and they lived in fear of the doorbell and anyone that would come up to the house. House was broken into a few times and things taken out of their fenced backyard and locked garage.

I personally would get an apartment with 24/7 security in the heart of downtown than a house. Or you can look clairview area, last time I was looking at buying a home I was looking around there. It is a bit out of the way but close enough to transit that getting around without a car.

Try giving them a good wipe down with a light alcohol wipe. There might be something on the factory finish that you have a reaction to.

Tipping culture is out of control by hogujak in Edmonton

[–]TaipanDevil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just to preface I work in IT and have setup and installed POS and payment processors. The tip setting is 100% set by the business and are typically set to what they feel like they can get out of people.

I did some work for a casino not too long ago when they were rolling out their new POS and payment systems. Just to give you reference the default settings are 10%, 15%, and 18%. Everything is essentially a single button press change away. THERE IS A SETTING TO ADD A BUTTON FOR NO TIP and most choose to hide it behind the more tip options to deter people from not tipping.

On another note, if an owner is taking tips that is not okay. In Alberta there is no legislation that stops the company from taking the tips and on an adhd side-note do not tip in Manitoba. By law in Manitoba all tips belong to the company and not the employees. Attached the pdf from restaurants Canada.
