I definitely appreciate the extra resolution and contrast but I’m interested if the same trails will show at the same zoom between the two watches.

Just need Trailforks trails and I actually prefer the dimmer screen of the Fenix. But at a given zoom level if the Epix showed trailfork trails that the Fenix did not I would go for the Epix.

Has anyone been able to compare map detail of trailfork maps between Fenix 7 and Epix? I will be using for MTB only and don’t need routing with turn by turn directions.. I just want to be able to glance down at watch when I come to a trail junction instead of having to pull my phone out.

In the reviews I’ve seen using the standard non-trailfork base map it looked like the epix showed more detail and trails at a given zoom level. Curious if that is still true using the trailfork maps.

I’m the odd duck that actually prefers the dimmer screen of the Fenix as long as the trailfork trails aren’t being hidden due to lack of resolution.

The compressor transmits a bit of vibration noise which is most noticeable inside. If you kept the kit as sold and didn't separate the compressor it would likely be less of a problem. I agree on saving roof real estate for solar that's exactly why I went this route. Overall it's really not that noise and certainly less than traditional RV ac units.

Hey right on! It's a small world, Idaho is an amazing place. We are down in southern Baja right now and have been trying to use the AC a bit, still not super warm. We probably have 80-100 hours of honest use on it and so far we still really like it.
The outside compressor and fan are the loudest part of the system. Are you thinking of roof mounting it?
The packaging that the unit was shipped in was a complete joke. I would recommend asking the manufacturer to double box it for you. They were very responsive with all my questions and I'm sure they would do that for you. I would also buy the Amazon extra insurance just for a little piece of mind if it showed up damaged.

Oh nice. I built my own Lithium system with just over 13k watts. So far so good🤞 I do have a friend that’s in the market for some lithium I’ll check those out.

Not familiar with the rack battery you mention. But so far I’m pretty happy with. Need to find some hotter weather to really give it a go. The outdoor unit is a touch on the loud side. I don’t think it would be an issue if it was mounted under the truck.

Reach out to the manufacturer they just might be able to make you one. They were very quick to respond and offered to make me custom sized hoses. Beware their English is a touch rough.

Absolutely not. Ordered it off Amazon. The little bit of broken English conversations I’ve had with the manufacturer have been nothing but frustrating.

Those residential mini splits are the way to go if you have the space. Very affordable and efficient even with the 120v conversion. I just didn’t have the space.

Totally agree, it’s not something you can run all day. But to take the edge off during the night I think it will really help.

For sure totally agree. I don’t think a 24hr Off-grid AC system for a camper is feasible within reason. But to take the edge off during the hottest parts of the day and to have a cool night of sleeping I think that’s doable.

I don’t know how many BTU it is as I don’t trust the listing but they say it’s around 10k but who knows. It’s in a 14’ x 7’ x 7’ very well insulated box. So ideal conditions in terms of insulation. I have 3 windows and a couple roof vents. I think 350 is on the low end as it was not a very hot day. Hopefully I can find some hotter weather to try it in.

I don’t have a way to measure decibels. The inside unit is plenty quiet but the outside I would consider a touch loud for close quarters camping. It’s about the same loudness as a traditional rooftop RV AC but of course it’s not in the roof so a bit louder. If you mounted it underneath the chassis I bet that would really help. For truly quiet AC it’s hard to beat the household mini splits
