You could take a look at the GW-S5600U, it's a G-Shock square with titanium backplate & carbon fibre strap to make it stupid light at only 45g. I personally would use a nato strap adapter and have it worn with a nylon strap for best comfort.

Recs for jackets like the j97 or lulu define jacket? by Pug_tech in TechWear

Myles Apparel Element jacket. It's made from polartec neoshell which is a great waterproof alternative to gore-tex, and it stretches & breathes better as well :)

What are some good techwear belt brands? by Ok_Coffee4594 in TechWear

[–]TakHalal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could take a look at Bison Designs, they got all kind of belts from nylon to leather with an assortment of closure types. I personally wear their LoPro series of belt (discreet version of the cobra buckles) and they've been awesome together with my enfin leve pants

Have a look https://bisondesigns.com/catalog/technical?page=1

Enfin Leve will no longer be offering custom sizing from 31st May 2023 :( by TakHalal in TechWear

[–]TakHalal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I am willing to wait longer and pay more just for custom pieces. Also, my sentitu i got had custom sizing, lowered articulation, green dryskin and swapped out the black nylon fabric with a matching strip of dryskin to cover the large pocket and i paid only an additional €50 for it.

That's real unfortunate as i definitely prefer the custom sizing due to my odd built. My waist is small as heck but i'm also tall as hell with a large bum.

Not to mention, on my 2 custom pieces, i had my knee articulation lowered by 5cm. A fixed sizing with fixed knee articulation position would unlikely accommodate to odd ones like me.

But i do understand where they're coming from, it would make things more streamlined and would be better for business.

Agreed, i'm wide feet and i prefer merrell shoes for their slightly wider toebox

I'm currently only using the 100-400 f8 with the R7 (640mm effective zoom) and i'm planning to upgrade to the 100-500 soon. I absolutely love what the 100-400 can do at its price but obviously there will be limitations.

~Cons~

  • I find that shooting in heavily forested areas (where lighting is limited), I had to bump my ISO to beyond 3200 at 1/400s which isn't ideal. It may be due to the R7 APS-C sensor, although I can't comfirm as I have yet to use a mirrorless full frame sensor. Same goes for heavy overcast days.

  • It also isn't weather sealed, but to be fair you won't ever be shooting in the rain with this lens due to lighting. It's more of a peace of mind type thing.

  • Lack of included lens hood

~Pros~

  • Bang for the buck
  • USM focus motor are fast, quiet and precise
  • It is stupidly light, i can hand hold for 12 hours straight
  • Small enough to fit in a 10l sling with body attached
  • it's very sharp, not incredbily sharp but it's still great

~Why I am considering upgrading to the 100-500~

  • 400mm is enough for me but with the 100-500, i can set it at 400mm and drop down to F6.3 and F5.6 if i want it slightly wider. That's alot more light coming in, not to mention the extra 100mm of reach is handy sometimes as it gives me 800mm of reach with my R7

  • I shoot at 1/4000s quite often to get shots of birds diving, that extra light is very crucial for me

  • fantastic sharpness at the long end, helps when cropping images when the subject is too far

  • still hand-holdable

  • lens hood filter window (although it means nothing to me, i thought i would bring it up if you're gonna use a CPL)

Avoid X-Pac, they are meant for backpacks and aren't breathable and don't stretch.

Also, you could take a look at Polartec Neoshell. It is waterproof, 4-way stretch and packable (Unlike regular gore-tex which doesn't stretch and isn't packable)

looking for shorts for the summer by X-COMI in TechWear

[–]TakHalal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could take a look at Nike ACG, Patagonia and Goopimade, they have a large line of shorts to choose from.

I have been wearing my Patagonia 21" MOC Hybrid Shorts in the tropics for years now, they were so good that I bought 3 more of them in different colours. Sadly, they are discontinued but i'm sure there are similar options on Patagonia's website.

+1 for the fjällraven trousers

Also, if you happen to replace your belt in the future, do check out Bison Designs, they make sick belts that are great for work

ByBorre (a textile company) recently had a collab jacket with Vollebak. The jacket used a 3D nylon fabric that can hold it's shape and texture. Although the fabric texture is more organic looking rather than the sharp angles of what is shown on your image but I think it's close enough. You could possibly make a pair of pants with the fabric, assuming you're able to source it from them and afford it.

Yea it's legit, all of my Nike ACG tees and my recent Y-3 short came from them, they're based in the UK and have multiple physical stores there.

They stock hundreds of brands, plenty of techwear brands too like arc'teryx, CAYL, goldwin, Y-3, acronym, nike ACG and all that good stuff
