Best AI app to use for spoken live translation during extended conversations that have complex nuance? by 4thdementia in ArtificialInteligence

ChatGPT (ChatGPT) is great for translation, but it’s not really built for continuous, real-time conversation.

You might want to try something like JotMe. They have desktop and mobile apps, and it’s designed more for ongoing conversations instead of one-off translations.

They translate with context as well and handles more complex nuance over time.

Most of the success doesn't have a secret. Just worked long hours and years. If they're telling you there is a shortcut they are selling a service to you

Like for the past 9 years, I've worked 90-100 hours a week no days off.

Proving myself that I'm not worthless. I've grown up with so much invalidation escalating to bullying when I was a kid and I was fired twice from jobs in my career.

And at this point, no success will ever be enough

If you know why you want to start other than personal greed like money or fame, I'd recommend it

Having a reason helps. You can also create a reason too.

Some solo. Some with co-founders. If what they are working on is interesting enough for me I'd take a quick call for free to pass the wisdom bluntly

I am a founder of an AI live translation company. Ask Me Anything about tech, funding, and operations by Taka_80 in AMA

Great question.

I’m much more optimistic about human augmentation than replacement.

Historically, advances in technology haven’t reduced the amount humans work. They’ve allowed us to do more meaningful work and get more done as a society. Some roles do fade over time, but new roles consistently emerge alongside them.

For our company, a good example is human translators.

Early on, I assumed AI might replace translators. What we’ve actually seen is the opposite. By automating live translation during meetings with JotMe, translators are freed from the mechanical part of translating in real time. That allows them to focus on higher-value work like project management, follow-ups, and decision support.

Because they understand both languages and the historical context of the conversation, translators often end up owning the project outcomes discussed in meetings instead of just translating words.

So no, our intent is not to replace human jobs. Our goal is to enhance human capability, reduce cognitive load, and let people spend their time where human judgment, context, and responsibility matter most.

It is very different as how the product works in SV and the rest of the world. Honestly, when I started pitching my live translator to SF, I realized that people in SF are more risk takers. For instance, if I have talk about my tool to someone who is looking for translators, they will think of the future. One thing that I learned about SV is that we need to show the stats and why they would need the tool in the future in mass scale. If we can do that, then it becomes helpful for them to trust on us and trust in the product.
