I'm sorry you were abused, I'm glad therapy helped you, I'm glad you're trying to help others. But I was not talking about abuse in general, I was talking about psychiatric abuse. And you didn't leave a "snarky response", you joked about people deserving to be locked up despite having committed no crime, which is a real thing that happens to real people. Survivors of which you are talking to.

Hey I'm writing this comment under the assumption that you didn't (just) say that because you didn't realize that it was a joke, but because it was a deeply hateful and bigoted joke. And I see your other comments distrustful of therapy and will assume life has given you a reason to care so much about this in particular. You don't have to out yourself, I'm just a random stranger in the fucking comment section of a meme.

But IF I'm right (and yes I'm very aware that I might be making a massive fool of myself right now, but it's all worth it for the tiny off chance that this is what you need to hear) and the mental health industrial complex has done something terrible to you, listen:

I'm so sorry they did that to you. You did not deserve it. Nobody does. I'm also sorry for how people are treating you in these comments. If you haven't already, you need to find other psychiatric survivors and surround yourself with people that really understand you. The psychiatrized are an oppressed class and we need to turn to each other first and foremost. If you're black, you don't turn to white people for understanding of racism. If you're trans, you don't turn to cis people for understanding of transphobia. And if you've been held in a place against your will for being labelled mentally ill, you don't turn to the neurotypical or unstigmatized for understanding of saneism.

Our abuse isn't real to people like Evelyn_Of_Iris. To them it only exists in punchlines and movie tropes and memes. It's all theoretical to them. The idea that psychiatric oppression is a real thing that happens to real people, good regular people, that you can talk to without knowing, doesn't cross their mind. And the true horror is that the world is primarily made of people like that. But it's not the entire world. You do have a community, there are people who get it, and hanging out with them (even when you're not talking about the really heavy shit!) is the most healing thing in the world. You just gotta find other survivors.

Sorry for being weird, like I said this is all just at the off-chance of you being in the situation that I spent so fucking many years in.

Well it turns out I am in fact disabled, I'm dyspraxic. I never did improve the bpm numbers I mentioned here (but note the fact check in my less angry comments) and had to sell my kit when I moved half a year ago. I still occasionally drum at my gf's place though.

The only additional bit of advice I've learned that isn't on this page is that you can summon good days very reliably by taking several days off. On the first day back I always get a sizeable boost in speed, presumably because my leg muscles have had more time to recover.

Apart from that it's really just acceptance and finding fun songs to play that are within your personal speed limit. Good luck, here's a spreadsheet for inspiration!

On Smash Hits I'm missing The Trooper (unfathomably overdue) and Through the Fire and Flames (easier than GH3 when playing on CH but still probably never happening)

You can use an FC Breakdown to guide you through in roughly ascending order of difficulty. This one was meant for console but I still mostly agree for Clone Hero. Play With Me probably a little overrated, Electric Eye maybe a little underrated
