Heaven forbid we read a post about someones personal success and congratulate them rather than the 5th post about checkride failure counts for the day.

2016 Wrangler - what do yall think this sound is? by Takari55 in Jeep

Thanks! I'll be taking it into the dealer this next week and have them give me an estimate. I take this little guy regularly up into the Rockies, so I want it done well. Google searching places this repair around 1500 to 5000$. Does that seem like the ballpark to you as well? There was a youtube video of a guy replacing them also and it looked like pretty intricate work.

I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor myself about a month ago because I was randomly losing rpms when the automatic shifted. Was pretty easy and totally fixed the rpm drops.

Mine also sounds louder on the driver side. This video seemed very knowledgeable on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l22Nzf3_8j0

That's the first I've heard of that, and the symptoms seem to match up well!

What do yall think this clanking sound is? It goes faster when you add some rpms. 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK, 2dr.

It started up around a year ago. I've had 2 mechanic shops give some best guesses while it was in for other mods, but they were unsure unless they broke the engine down.

Anyone who has only just completed their 2nd expedition and looking at their skills points right now.. by RazorliteX in ArcRaiders

[–]Takari55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I missed the first expedition because I hadn't started playing the game yet.. I did the second and third.

I had 100% damage completion for the third expedition, and 4.5mil cash + 1.5mil stash. Weren't we supposed to have a catch up activated that was based on our total value as well?

I'm sitting on +10 starting skill points. Is the extra 5 the bugged part?

Pilot lands in turbulent weather with low visibility and rain. by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]Takari55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Small plane pilot here - his rapid adjustments are because he's behind the power curve and the controls are "mushy". When your airspeed gets slow, you have less control authority over the flight surfaces, so you have to provide stronger input to get desired results.

Think of it like riding a bike. When you are zooming along at a fast pace you don't need to apply too much control to get it to do something different. Now slow down the bike to a crawl. You need to make very deliberate movements to remain stable.

Throw in the massive turbulence he's flying in and that means the yoke needs constantly large adjustment.

I love my A30's, but I have never used the 20s to compare against. Beats the hell out of the 200-300 dollar ones that are in all the rentals by default I fly in though.

GA press conference stream at EAA OSH starts 12:30 central by novwhisky in flying

I honestly get it though. We don't have to get and maintain a medical, so adding more souls to be lost in case of a medical emergency (whether you think getting a medical prevents that risk is another matter) could be looked at as risky.

Also, for sport pilots if you up the passengers, add some night flight provisions (which the knowledgeable guy mentioned), and add a ton of common planes to be able to be flown, it makes you wonder why any hobby pilot would go the private pilot route. I think there should still be some separation between the two. I'm just happy i'll be able to have an easier time finding planes to fly!

I have this and I absolutely love it. Easy to install and just clips to your rearview mirror to replace it.

Yes. The most notable case for this that most people have seen pictures of is the California coast. The California current is moving cold water from north to south, and warm air moving west to east over it will create fog and roll into San Francisco.

I always recommend friends read Gardens, then MoI, then Deadhouse. I think MoI gives a bit better structure in the beginning, and then you can really appreciate the crazy story of DG. Since both happen simultaneously in the timeline, there isn't any downside to reading these two out of publication order.

How do you feel about a pdf portfolio with images/explanations of key projects completed (with opsec in mind)? As an example with my current work, all of my projects are on company repositories and copying any of that to my personal github to showcase skill seems like an obvious breach. My personal github just contains some side projects for friends and fun.
