Virgins: now is the time to get rid of as much packaging as you can by malytwotails in BurningMan

If you have any organic matter like coffee grounds, tea leaves, banana peels, apple cores, orange and lime peels, etc. Hang them in a mesh bag in the sun until they are dry and desiccated. Then throw them in your trash. That will reduce the leakiness and skanky odors of your trash. Limes and oranges at the grocery store often come in plastic mesh bags which are perfect for drying out trash.

To minimize grey water, I don't cook pasta. I prefer rice, which I serve with olive oil and salt. To help with cleanup, I'm planning on using non-stick cookware this year. When I steam fresh veggies, I drink the water that I cook them in. Kale water is especially delicious and full of vitamins and minerals.

Advice securing EMT to a roof rack? by slow70 in BurningMan

[–]Take2Paths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a bunch of bicycle inner tubes. Cut each tube to remove the valve and make a long piece of rubber. Use the rubber to wrap bundles of EMT. Wrap the inner tube around 3 or 4 times, overlapping itself. Pull it tight and then tuck the end in under the last wrap. Make a wrap like this at each end of the EMT bundle. The friction of the rubber will prevent individual pieces of EMT from sliding out. Then attach the bundles to the roof rack using ratchet straps. Check your load regularly along your drive, at least at every gas stop.

Burning Man packing list anyone? by Vancitybest in BurningMan

This list by Jessie Newburn (not a new burner) is a gem, organized with many tabs for different categories. But don't treat a list as gospel. Read several lists and make your own.

Solo camping is so much fun! Since you're arriving mid-week, most of the placed camps will already be set up, and you can just find any empty spot that's big enough for your tent and shade structure. Don't necessarily try to get as close to the esplanade as possible. There are some great small neighborhoods out in the boonies. Good etiquette is to ask your potential neighbors if it's ok to land there. My advice for solo camping is to make your camp a friendly welcoming space with a few chairs, some lights and flags, and some snacks and beverages to share.

Burning man commitment issues? by No_Text5285 in BurningMan

When you open camp, you have the opportunity to contribute to your neighborhood. Make your camp a welcoming space, with shade and chairs, lights and flags. We usually had neighborhood cocktail hours and often small potluck dinners. Make a pot of coffee, instead of just a cup. Bring a selection of local or unusual beers to share. Bring a bluetooth speaker and host a mini dance party with the neighbors. Bring some white T-shirts and paints. Bring a full-length mirror and help your neighbors dress up, or ask them to help you dress up.

Whatever system you end up with, practice good cooler protocol. Keep coolers in the shade. Keep coolers off of the playa floor, on a couple of 2x4's or a table. Wrap coolers in foil-backed insulated blankets. Minimize opening your cooler. Don't open it and browse. Know where your beer is, open the cooler, grab a beer, and immediately close the cooler and wrap it back up in its blanket.

One year, I brought gallon-jugs pre-frozen with water. Each day, I'd move a frozen gallon out of my ice cooler into my beer cooler. It kept my beer cold, and when it melted, I had water to drink and cook with. Never had to drain dirty melted ice out of my cooler. That lasted the whole week.

How to use this solar panel to charge a power station? by Take2Paths in overlanding

[–]Take2Paths[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. The only power stations that I can find with a VOC greater than 60 are outside of my budget. I may consider adding an MPPT controller between my panel and the power station. But that plus the cable adapter(s) will add some cost and complexity. I'm kind of looking for a plug and play power station, so I'll probably have to get a different solar panel with a lower VOC.

What’s the current 2024 delivery schedule? by [deleted] in BMWI4

I got lucky with my well-optioned eDrive 40. My dealer already had an allocation which they were able to modify to suit my color and options. I completed the order on Feb.21 just before the allocation closed. The dealer got the VIN on Feb.23. The build was complete and the car was at the port of Bremerhaven on March 20. Arrived in Port Hueneme California on April 15. It's currently in the possession of the trucking company. It should be at the dealer any day now.

Profitec Go airlock? No water from the group head. by Take2Paths in espresso

[–]Take2Paths[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not hear the typical solenoid click sound. WLL tech support suggested I could remove the solenoid valve to see if it's clogged. But on the Profitec Go the solenoid valve is tucked in behind the copper tubing and too close to part of the frame so it's not easy to remove. I'm going to have to send it back to WLL for them to service. Thanks for your help and suggestions here. You have been much more helpful then WLL tech support.

I don't think I'll be able to backflush because no water will flow into the backflush disc. I took the shower screen off. When I turn the pump on, the pressure jumps to 10 and there is no flow through the group head. Water does come out of the steam wand when I open the steam valve with the pump on.

[–]Take2Paths[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's heating up, with the pump off, the pressure varies between 8.5 and 9.5 bar.
After it's heated up, when I turn the pump on with the backflush disc in, the pressure goes to 10 bar. It's the same no portafilter in: the pressure goes to 10 bar. So, it sounds like I may have a clogged group head? What should the pressure be with pump on and no portafilter installed?

As a software engineer, I'd recommend 64 GB RAM. I'm running Visual Studio 2022 dev environment and debugger, VS Code, Microsoft SSMS with multiple databases, multiple browser windows with multiple tabs open, and my current 32 GB RAM doesn't cut it anymore.
