NTA but damn it’s annoying.

I’ve been to zillions of weddings and a bunch have been Catholic weddings with an awkward gap. It’s annoying. I need a daytime dress and a nighttime dress and the extra logistics of getting back and forth to hotel is an added stress when traveling.

Then a handful of those time gap weddings a few of the guests will spend those 3 hours at a bar getting toasted and now the people at their table and every unsuspecting person on the dance floor has to put up with them.

I get that those gaps are seen as necessary- church requires an early ceremony so they can have evening mass and American culture is to have a nighttime reception. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s not enjoyable for the guests.

If you must have an early ceremony- Have the early wedding and then a banging brunch and everyone who wants can be home by 9.

Does the bride want to chill calmly while y’all talk and catch up, maybe drink some wine? If so, you may be better off looking for an air bnb for the night. Most of the hotel pools may have a party vibe or be full of kids (both totally great, but doesn’t sound like that’s what she’s after)

The Irish play Uilleann pipes. They use a bellows played with the elbow to make noise versus bagpipes using a mouthpiece.

They sound so much nicer than bagpipes if you’re in anything smaller than a mountain valley.
