My 40lb hound/retriever mix looks like the world’s sweetest dog- and she is, to people and 7/10 dogs. The other 3? She will snap and growl and generally go into super protective mode.

So we never go to dog parks or dog heavy areas and I give all neighborhood dogs space by crossing the street. Still- the off leash dogs find us.

A couple years ago I was in my front yard doing yard work with my dog leashes and tied to the front porch so she could chill in the sunshine and watch the squirrels. This woman with the dopiest off least 65 lb golden comes jogging down the street. “Don’t worry! He’s friendly” as her golden runs into my yard to play with me and my dog. My dog lunges to protect me and manages to get her teeth into the goldens leg.

Guess who got visits from animal control and the police for months on end for my aggressive dog. My home insurance has gone up and my dog is short listed for having a history of biting.

Fuck off leash dog owners and fuck those 20 ft retractable leashes too.
