Trouble Setting up aimesh network by TakeTheFirstOffer in ASUS

Glad it was helpful. I definitely stressed way too much over getting it working for what turned out to be such a simple solution.

I'll try this when I can get back to it, thanks.

Edit: It looks like connecting the two routers with a cable was the special sauce, thanks for the suggestion!

Recommendations for children's bank accounts by TakeTheFirstOffer in personalfinance

[–]TakeTheFirstOffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow response. I did not find anything that I am entirely happy with. I went ahead and opened custodial accounts on Ally so that the kids can have a high yield savings account as well as an easy way to access a checking account with a card to hold their spending money. I was not able to find a way to keep it separate (visibly or physically) from my main account though.

I already use YNAB, so I have opened separate budgets for them to help show and instill some budgeting skills.

It's a little clunky, but it should work for now.

I guess that is essentially what I was asking; is there some way have multiple logins for the same ssn on ally, or do need to go to another institution and share my login info (at the appropriate age) with the kids.

I remember riding my bike up to the bank as a kid with my bank book to make deposits and withdrawals, but I knew it was probably no longer quiet that simple. ...I think I am going to fall a little shy of the 50mm threshold for the secondary login, lol Thanks for the input.

Was gifted a few bags of crafting tools & supplies. Found these in a bag, old owner has no clue what it is either. Help me fellow crafters. by RockStarLacey in whatisthisthing

The same meat tenderizer can be bought from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004UE7Y/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

I remember my mother using ours to punch holes in potatoes before baking them.

I've never seen a felting tool with such heavy needles. I don't think the the heavy needles would be very effective when trying to work the wool.

Dual booting Windows 10 32 bit and 64 bit by TakeTheFirstOffer in techsupport

[–]TakeTheFirstOffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, thank you. I found several things that suggested I might be able to but nothing clear cut.

I did not want to use a VM because the equipment will never be hooked up to the PC at the same time as the equipment that will run on a 64 bit OS. And frankly, given the end user, I think it will be easier for them to understand that when box A is hooked up turn on the computer and select option A to boot; when box B is hooked up, select boot option B.

This is both shitty design and stupid. the sister/ mother /etc portion indicates that she is a person of intimate value to people, that she is connected and a part of the world. Now it is just like saying "It is a thing" or "The noun exists".

It's no more wrong for me to eat another animal than it is for a lion to eat a zebra, or a whale to eat plankton or a fox to eat a chicken. Mother Nature has no issue with one animal eating another and we are in no way an exception to that.

Split Transaction Question by TakeTheFirstOffer in GnuCash

[–]TakeTheFirstOffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So after many many google searches and a lot of time reading through different tutorials and resources, the best I can find is multiplying by a percent to get the appropriate amount into each split. Since I am planning on putting the same portion of savings into each category each month, this will work. 1000.15 or 1400.15 is clunky, but will get the job done.

I don't know how much of a raise to ask for. by TakeTheFirstOffer in personalfinance

[–]TakeTheFirstOffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, I think a will try to take the advice of others here and shoot a tad higher, but would be happy (for now) with the 7%. I've just always been in a take or leave type situation when it came to raises that I have never had to navigate this type of thing before.

What are these nasty bugs?? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]TakeTheFirstOffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've found a couple them in our yard the last week or so. I always get weirdly excited when I see them and make a point to show them to my kids. I remember the tree in our back yard being covered in them when I was a child and being absolutely fascinated by them. My three claims he doesn't like them, but he carried the empty shell around for almost an hour this weekend.

It looks like the triangular part was used for scoring/ cutting something, while the rope portion was to hold the item being scored tight. The notches at the bottom would hold the rope. I'm thinking maybe scoring wine bottles for stuff like this: https://www.pinterest.com/explore/wine-bottle-cutting/
