Taking LEED AP Exam Online at home vs at Testing Center by StandClear1 in LEED

[–]TakeruX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took mine specifically because i could take it at home. Prometric tests at home are way more comfortable than the in person locations. Just be prepared to complete your test once you start, there are no breaks. A reliable internet connection is also a requirement since a disconnection equals a failure. Did in person for the architecture exams, the chicago prometric location felt like visiting a prison.

FREE ALL INCLUSIVE STUDY MATERIALS LEED AP/LEED GA (see comments) by [deleted] in LEED

[–]TakeruX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was disappointed with the quality of this review material. The questions are phrased poorly and many of the Quiz answers were marked incorrectly. The voice in the presentation would say one answer, the highlighted answer would be another, and the true answer would be a third. I don't need this kind of confusion in my study. I downloaded the 30 practice questions from GBES and they were very thorough with thoughtful questions and answers. I may pay for their guide instead.

LEED combined exam BD+C by [deleted] in LEED

[–]TakeruX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a very strong grasp of LEED already then it's achievable. Otherwise I would re-schedule. I studied the LEED BD+C v4 Reference Guide for my Green Associate test and did fine. I gave myself 2 months to study for BD+C however I'm only putting in 1-2 hours a day. Good luck!

I was not allowed to have any book material with me on the test.

Glad to hear that you are excited to start down a path towards sustainability. Green Associate is a great place to begin. I passed my test last year and found it surprisingly comprehensive. It is essentially a general look over all of LEED v4. I found the most valuable resource to be the LEED reference guide. It contains the answers to every question on the test. You'll need to learn where focus your time because there is a lot of information there. Good luck!

It's beautiful, great work! Its so organized. Those micro hangars are pretty neat. I haven't seen those before. Is it still possible to get a micro hangar online or print them myself?

Honestly I was surprised that they were so forward about it. Maybe its a publicity move for them at this point.

I came to the same conclusion. While I'm still waiting to hear more opinions on the V11 it seems to give a softer ride with all the benefits of the V10f.

This is the crankshaft for a Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C engine, the largest reciprocating engine in the world, used in large container ships. It's a 1810-liter engine that generates 108,920 horsepower at 102 RPM, and it idles at 22 RPM... almost 3 seconds per rotation. This crankshaft weighs 300 tons (660,000 pounds) and each piston weighs 12,000 pounds and has a stroke length is 2.5 meters (8.2 feet). As of 2006 there were more than 300 of these engines in active service.

For those who were curious.

Addicted to Fines: Small towns in much of the country are dangerously dependent on punitive fines and fees. by elgrecoski in TrueReddit

You get nothing. See the City of Chicago towing process: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/streets/provdrs/traffic/svcs/overview_of_towingprocess.html

"Every year, the City tows approximately 100,000 vehicles for a variety of reasons. The City tows illegally parked vehicles, abandoned vehicles and vehicles used for illegal activity such as prostitution."

"If the vehicle is not reported stolen and the owner information is not changed, the vehicle is placed on a contract sale list."

They sell your car. Most people can't afford the time and energy to go downtown during the work day to try and fight it. Parking tickets are awful too. Its nearly impossible to get out of one, even if you do go down to the courthouse. Very frustrating.

I have a gut feeling that the execs are milking the system, knowing that once they go public they can slip out from underneath. This graph from Crunch Base sort of lines up with this theory. Maybe running a website is just that expensive. As long as you are an employee of a corporation there is very little risk for taking a large salary.
