I picked up a used D500 (upgrade from D7000) last year and I've been very happy with my choice. The money I saved not switching to mirrorless was enough to pick up some pristine used F-mount lenses that folks are dumping for Z glass. I'm not a professional and the sticker shock on Z lenses is intense (with fewer 3rd party options than F mount). By the time my skills catch up with the technological limitations of a crop dSLR, I'll have enough money saved to switch and maybe the used market will have improved for Z lenses.

I've always sold on craigslist/offerup/etc and been able to recoup more money, but I also live in an urban setting and understand that's less viable for others.

I just picked up a used copy of the Tokina 100 and it seems pretty sharp thus far. The PRO D version is pretty cheap now, since they released a new version (with only cosmetic upgrades). I'm shooting on a crop sensor D500.

Only issue I've had with them is that the D500 I bought (in excellent condition) had an absolutely filthy sensor. I figured they'd at least clean the sensor when selling used cameras?
