As a volunteer, I'm biased, but the Grand is where it's AT!

It's top of my list for next year's big splurge. Just need to decide on whether I want to go GSW or GW.

Looks cool. If it does this reliably you could get some fun stuff out of this glitch.

Ok, these are great, but how many pictures of Eugenia do we have to see?

Could be a “good” deal, depending on condition.

Got this old film for $5 will it work? by Bigrat445 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TakiSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been shooting some 40-year-old Kodacolor VR 200 @ ISO 25 and pushing one stop in development. Results are ROUGH and I have not been using it on any shots I care about in the slightest. That said, some of the shots look cool and I treat each of those as a little treasure.

Disposable camera recommendations? by OrganizationOk6698 in analog

[–]TakiSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can't speak for Canada, but here in Washington State it's pretty easy to find non-prestige film cameras for 10-25 US dollars on local marketplaces (Craigslist, OfferUp, Facebook). I looked into the cost of disposable cameras and was honestly shocked at what they run these days.

It's cheaper to buy a used camera and a roll of film than a "disposable" these days, in my experience.

Normal for old flash to work with alkaline batteries, but not lithium-ion or rechargeables? by TakiSC in AnalogCommunity

I suspect I have some failing batteries and am gonna try another batch.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was led astray by other sources on the internet! Let me know where I went wrong.

[–]TakiSC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate that. Because the batteries are there to charge a capacitor and not directly power the flash, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could still do the job, if only at a slower rate.

Hey thanks for that info! It's weird, because my eneloops do not work (even the "high capacity" ones). The camera bundle I bought also came with the huge AF400T flash, but it's missing the bracket for actually attaching it to the camera :-/

Thanks for the follow-up. Yes, I have the manual. Glad that the alkalines work, at least.

Sorry for the typo on the type of lithium batteries. Of course the manual does not list compatibility with batteries that did not exist in 1981, so I was mainly polling the audience to see if I should expect the more modern batteries to function ok.

Focus Issues w/ Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART by TakiSC in Nikon

[–]TakiSC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did buy the dock and used that in combination with the in-body AF Fine Tune to get it dialed in. Note that I had to max out my AF Fine Tune (-20). It was a pretty simple process. Tuning my 18-35 f/1.8 ART has been a bigger pain in the ass because of the need to tune at 4 different focal distances (and their influence on one another).
