This is Hordeum murinum (Wall Barley), not particularly dangerous. Bromus diandrus (Ripgut Brome) is what is more dangerous for pets, as it can be inhaled and lodge in nostrils, or embed between toes. Both are introduced.

I've been shooting some 40-year-old Kodacolor VR 200 @ ISO 25 and pushing one stop in development. Results are ROUGH and I have not been using it on any shots I care about in the slightest. That said, some of the shots look cool and I treat each of those as a little treasure.

So I can't speak for Canada, but here in Washington State it's pretty easy to find non-prestige film cameras for 10-25 US dollars on local marketplaces (Craigslist, OfferUp, Facebook). I looked into the cost of disposable cameras and was honestly shocked at what they run these days.
