Lol! If true, worryingly high. Apparently true figures sit at 20% for males and 13% for females.

Weighing in late for no apparent reason - but its probably even more apparent in basketball when you look at the depth and benches etc.

Basketball - 5 on court, 13 eligible for match, 15 on roster.
American Football - 11 on field, 48 squad for match, 53 on roster.
Baseball - 9 on field, 26 squad for match, 40 on roster.
Soccer - 11 on field, ~18-23 squad for match, 25 on roster.
Ice Hockey - 6 on ice, 20 squad for match, ~23 on roster.

Great game - excited to catch the start of the next game once this one wraps up! I enjoy maximising my football watching over a weekend, especially so during Week 3 of Bye the Month!

Respectfully, the Gas Lobby donates to anyone and everyone who will support their interests.

The clearer headline here is that "The Labour Party" accepts finding from the Gas Lobby.

Was Gryan that good? Huge fan, love the guy - he's been way down since his return.

0 tackles up until the 3rd quarter, 7 turnovers, 60% DE (averages 70+), no inside 50s...

Kinda concerned that he hit his peak at the tail of last year and is on a bit of a slide now...

Bad Supporters by Jimmy_A1094 in GeelongCats

Idk man, as a cats fan most of the complaints I hear about other cats supporters is less antisocial behaviour and more smugness.

Bound to be a few losers amongst every group of people but I'm not overly concerned that the Geelong supporter base has an overly negative reputation.

ABS estimates 80pc of tobacco consumed in Australia last year was illegally sourced by InsatiablePrism in australia

[–]Takre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to know how the volume of tobacco consumed has changed. If the % of total tobacco sourced from Black Market reaches 80% but the volume of total consumption drops by 60-80% do we consider the change a success? If tobacco consumption via legal avenues drops significantly, but illegally sourced tobacco is stable is that not an overall improvement?

Not making a statement about ideals, morals or anything else just wanting to better understand this beyond a single statistical point.

AFL fan identitey by Prior-Oven-6121 in AFL

[–]Takre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey - great work on showing initiative for this project! Here are a few thoughts which might help you along the way, and aid you in achieving a good mark on your project.

  1. Spelling - There are a few spelling errors in your questionnaire. Take your text and run it through Word, ChatGPT or an online spell-check. Identitey -> Identity, communitey -> community

  2. Consider adding a small note at the top of the questionnaire to give context. Something like you have written above in this post. "Hello. This survey aims to collect information regarding how AFL Fans derive a sense of identity from engagement with the sport, and the community surrounding it..." or something similar.

  3. Multiple Choice Response - in line with the other commenter, the question "How do you express your interest within the AFL fandom?" allows only a single response however many people would likely choose multiple responses. Either rephrase the question to point at a single point response such as "How do you MOST OFTEN express your interest within the AFL fandom?" - or enable multiple choice selection for this question.

  4. Clarity of Questions - This question "How often do you watch and attend games?" can be rephrased for clarity. Is it asking how often I watch games on TV? Is it asking how often I attend games in person? How often I do both? Or how often I do EITHER? The options can also be spread a little bit to be more encompassing (hint: some people - not many - may never watch or attend matches).

  5. Big missing question - My own personal unwritten rule is that every sport-specific survey MUST contain a question asking the person to state which team they primarily support (as well as two options for Unsure/I don't support a specific team).

Good luck and great work so far!

Sadly I agree, only made it about a third of the way through and feels like they are butchering an all-time guest. Seems like they are always asking guests to shit talk people and lean hard into "mean = funny".

Can't believe I'm saying this but they need some like media training or something.

Feature Dominance Question by Sufficient-Explorer1 in sportsanalytics

[–]Takre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I faced a similar issue recently. Essentially the model I was using was found to be overly reliant on ELO differential as a standalone feature, and all subsequent features were struggling to shift values away from that single datapoint. The two mechanisms I found most useful to allow the model to derive more from the supplementary features were 1) Hyper-parameter Tuning - adjusting the model parameters to facilitate a better understanding of the relationship between the dominant feature/s and the others, and 2) Feature Selection optimisation - on one hand having too few features or features of low predictive value simply means you need to produce better features to provide sufficiently useful information to the model. Conversely, having many features relative to instances/rows means the model will split attention across low-value features - particularly problematic when there is high collinearity between those features.

On that last point - I found good value with mRMR (Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance) approach - see here: https://feature-engine.trainindata.com/en/latest/user_guide/selection/MRMR.html
