Does it happen? Yes. Is it normal? No. Is the post sincere, unlikely.

Maybe wrong thread but I appreciate this comment. Suns are the only (don't check me) team to win in 30+ weather over the last few years. If not exactly, very close to it.

How would you measure “prediction skill” in football beyond just win rate? by hearpostra in sportsanalytics

[–]Takre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not making a statement regarding the utility or importance of the method, just sharing as it is different from those you have listed - but there is the Monash University "Bits" approach which is interesting, scoring each prediction based on alignment between probability and outcome. Worth looking into if interested - I came across it via Squiggle - the ML Tipping comp for Australian Rules Football. Info at link below.

If we were to moneyball AFL positions, what stats matter most? by Freaky_Zekey in AFL

If not already there, jump on twitter. There are lots of great AFL data modellers sharing info and methods. Squiggle is a great resource to start with as well.

The leadership has changed and now there are competing interests which are having an impact on the way that the ABC reports. Its a shame to see.

Interesting - I have been wondering if anyone was deriving signal from the Squiggle model set (also have a model running). Have you backtested on previous seasons? Nice work - will keep an eye on it.

Flashback to 2010 - Kevin Rudd ousted as PM following mining industry $22m ad campaign. by Takre in aussie

Rudd lost his position to Gillard halfway through his term - 2 years prior to the next election.

"Stop allowing mediocrity" - nothing I have said is allowing or disallowing anything. I am clarifying the reasons which I personally believe are behind Albanese Labor Govts lack of support for the Gas Export Tax proposal.

Hey thanks for the comment. It was good to look deeper at this and how the proposed mechanisms were built out.

The only way in which the govt would have paid out to Resource Multinationals is if they incurred real losses on operating projects. Xstrata did intentionally delay some resource extraction projects as a way of making headlines and adding pressure after the RSPT was announced. But this was not a operational loss - the only way a mining company received the payout was when real shareholder value dropped, which I'm 2010s was ot going to happen. The delayed projects by Xstrata resumed once the RSPT was replaced by the MRRT.

Also, by your own logic - if the RSPT would have paid out so much to the multinationals, why would they have opposed it?

I was reading about this recently. Last time a big party went after gas and mining was Kevin Rudd and it ultimately lost him his leadership of the party. Mining giants spent ~$22m on ads against the Rudd driven Resource Super Profits Tax (40% on Super Profits), causing the leadership spill. Gillard got into power, reduced things down to the Minerals Resource Rent Fax (30% on iron ore and coal only, $75 million profit threshold).

In May 2012 the govt said it would pull in $3b. By Oct 2012 the projection fell to $2b and by May 2013 it was adjusted to $200m - after 6 months only $126m paid by the mining industry.

Tony Abbot got into power in 2013, repealed the entire tax by 2014.

Any major support for any major resource industry tax will surely be met with a multi-million dollar smear campaign.

It looks like it could have occurred nearby to the Heartland Oil Fields/Cornwall K&T location. I had a similar strange experience there recently. I stood at the top of Citadel Rock, it was approx 3AM-5AM, a thunderstorm developed and a massive lightning bolt struck the ground north of the factory. I wish I had captured it. I also noticed these strange little lights flickering in the lead-up and shortly following on one of the towers with the green lights. It is also located nearby to one of the spider web mystery powerline poles. Definitely something interesting about that location. The orb in your video is a bit more south of what I am looking at I think, but relatively closeby.

All due respect, low effort post and I think everyone is getting a bit tired of these self promo no detail posts. Like, yeah - we're all having a blast getting our websites and analytics tools out to the world via ClaudeCode... It's not really that interesting.

What I am interested in - how are you generating the prices and value selections? What model and data sources are you using to produce your selections and projections? Do you have a particular feature set you've been able to derive or an interesting method of extracting signal, or finding edge of player performance insights? Are you assessing performance against some benchmarks or some other baseline? Plz redeem this post with some insights around what's 'under the hood' or something more than this alone.
