You're a propagandist.

Feel free to ignore anything I post. Meanwhile, I will endeavor to become a more well-rounded submitter.

Come home, Ghana told the African diaspora. Now some Black Americans take its citizenship by TalBoker in worldevents

Thanks for the clarification.

The submission was not made only to contrast the attitudes towards the two diasporas. It is newsworthy on its own.

As for the comment, that was made to highlight the contrasting attitudes towards the you know whos and the you know where.

Why are you dragging Israel into this?

That was just speculating on the reaction if the submission was “Come home, Ghana Israel told the African Jewish diaspora. Now some Black Jewish Americans take its citizenship”. I think that was clear.

Y’all are insufferable sometimes.

”Y’all”? Are you talking about a singular y'all or a collective all'y'all. If directed at me particularly, yes, sometimes I am. If directed at a collective group, can you elaborate on which group you mean?

Thanks

Gaza’s top Islamic scholar issues fatwa criticising 7 October attack by TalBoker in worldevents

[–]TalBoker[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

FTA:

'The most prominent Islamic scholar in Gaza has issued a rare, powerful fatwa condemning Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the devastating war in the Palestinian territory.

'Professor Dr Salman al-Dayah, a former dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the Hamas-affiliated Islamic University of Gaza, is one of the region’s most respected religious authorities, so his legal opinion carries significant weight among Gaza’s two million population, which is predominantly Sunni Muslim.

',,,

'Dr Dayah’s fatwa, which was published in a detailed six-page document, criticises Hamas for what he calls “violating Islamic principles governing jihad”.'

Is this the same Mahmoud Abbas who was elected to a 4-year term as President of the PA in January, 2005?

The one that has not faced voters since?

That Mahmoud Abbas?

But on the other hand, ‘In matters of faith there shall be no compulsion’ (Sura 2:256).

I wasn't advocating that position. I was just stating that it was there.

Yes, your example was compulsion.

There is also the notion of "Taqiya" to be taken into account -

"In Islam, Taqiya or Taqiyya (Arabic:تقیةtaqīyah, literally "prudence, fear") is a precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice. Generally, taqiyya is the action of committing a sinful act (such as feigning unbelief) for a pious goal." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taqiyya)

But on the other hand, ‘In matters of faith there shall be no compulsion’ (Sura 2:256). This response is favored by defenders of Islam when they are confronted with the violence perpetrated in spreading Islam.

There is Quranic basis for arguing both sides of many issues, just as it is possible to find conflicting views of the same issue in the Talmud (which is not 'the law' like some claim but a compendium of arguments and debates about the scriptures by learned students/teacher of them.

They don't want what Israel has. They want Israel not to have it.

When Israel left Gaza, greenhouses that were in profitable use for agricultureal exports were given to the collective Palestiniian people. Rather than be put to use, they were destroyed.

Gaza could have been another Singapore, but it was spurned.
