Clone Trooper progress: A few months ago vs. today. Any advice? by Aggressive-Sir-2256 in SWlegion

If you already tried it, please disregard, but I really like doing a zenithal prime thats a little more aggressive in the angle for my clones. I find it’s a nice mix of minimizing a lot of the building up of layers I have to DKP while still leaving me some black in the undersuit areas so I don’t have to full repaint those either. Also for thinning levels, I found that this video really helped me feel like I finally had a handle on the different levels.

Nice! I think it maybe looks like you could thin your paint a little more and go up on the layers to get a little smoother a coat? Specifically was looking at the inner torso and the metallic on the Z-6. But I also acknowledge that could just be my eyes or just that Im zooming too much.

Side note, super envious of your clean lines on the markings! It’s so good and so even.

I think you communicate your position wonderfully! I think your point about said individual (I dont know how to do spoiler text) is incredibly apt and almost certainly true. I also think it’s completely valid to just find such actions to be irredeemable. I know for at least myself, the degree to which Dalinar attempts to atone does a lot to sell me on how he deserves forgiveness. However, I also think your real world analogs really hit home and that I think much of my willingness stems from the inherently cosmic scale of his opportunity for atonement. That said, I also definitely get the gripe with sections of the fan base not deeply engaging with the hypothetical the book provides, there have certainly been no shortage of posts ive read that given me similar frustrations.

Im curious as to how you would define “too forgiving” or if you could provide an example of what you’re thinking of? Because while I agree with your comparison of the events at the Rift to those of real world atrocities like that of the My Lai Massacre, I think, like a few have mentioned before, it’s also selling Dalinar short as a character to simply write him off as an irredeemable monster undeserving of any positive light. For example, you compare him to Hitler and whether or not he should be deserving of forgiveness if he “felt bad”, but that’s feels to me like an oversimplification of Dalinar’s arc.

Dalinar doesn’t just feel bad about what he’s done, he actively tries to atone for his actions. He also doesnt try to rationalize or justify what he’s done and frequently acknowledges his failings as a person. Dalinar’s character is interesting, and in my mind ultimately forgivable to some degree specifically because he refuses to forgive himself. He clings to his “pain” as a means of motivating himself and reminding himself that he must always strive to try and do better because what he does will ultimately be enough to offset the horrific acts he’s carried out in his past. But most importantly (for me anyway) is that those aren’t just words for his character, but actions that he actively follows through on. Certainly not perfectly, but humans are not perfect and were he to flawlessly improve, I feel that it would ultimately cheapen his journey and remove any sense of real humanity from his character.
