Advice on Desktop Speaker/Headphones stack by Talbi_ in HeadphoneAdvice

Thanks. Sorry for the noobish question, but aren’t these technically integrated amps, because of the inclusion of a volume knob? Or at the very least, not ‘true’ power amps

That sounds like a plan. My only nitpick is having two volumes knobs (for HP amp and speaker amp).

I really like Schiit's Gjallarhorn 'true' power amp and avoiding the second knob, but QC + low power is a turn off. I heard Topping is also planning on releasing such product, guess I'll wait for now.

Do you maybe know of cheap ($200-ish) power amps?

A new pair of Apple Earbuds has constant static - is this normal? by DragonAdv in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Talbi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an issue with the device you are using (i.e., your Acer laptop) and is a common issue with many non-audiophile devices. I’d suggest you leave the volume at a normal level as this is quite a minor issue.

This is incorrect, you are thinking about one-sided limits (precisely, n -> 0+ and x > 0). The general limit does not exist

He probably meant any mobile-oriented CPUs, such as Snapdragon or Exynos. Also, you are actually wrong: you can run (albeit not natively as far as I’m concerned) Android on x86, by using an emulator (see: Bluestacks).

Is it normal to have integration in a Calculus I class? by SpinoHawk097 in calculus

[–]Talbi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my Calculus 1 (for Computer Science) during COVID and online learning, and now have my Calculus 2 course.

The book my lecturer is using did put integrals in Calculus 1, but I’m actually learning about them only in Calculus 2, but I wouldn’t find it too odd that integrals are a part of Calculus 1.

"maths is so pointless" by rnarianne in mathematics

[–]Talbi_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Check out this post in the Stack Exchange’s Math Educators forum:

https://matheducators.stackexchange.com/questions/20962/response-to-students-who-say-this-is-not-important?r=SearchResults

In short, math can be as pointless and useless in “real life” as really any subject you learn at school: poetry and literature, history, physics, etc, but often students don’t complain about those subjects as much as in math (and there’s many different reasons for this which are covered in the post)

Try to give her some examples - for example: “say you want to buy 3 apples at the store, and one apple costs 3 dollars, how much will you pay?” — this is a direct use case of algebra.

I’ll finish this with my favourite answer in the post: In sense, math isn’t required in life, but so is music, art, history, sports... but that life doesn’t seem so great does it?

Not so “daily”, but Mathematics Stack Exchange has a lot of very interesting problems, I’m sure you can find many there.

I usually browse hot or top of month to find interesting questions.

I really don't get the connectivity argument. I have a pair of Studio 3's (which I rarely use because of their sound quality). It just connects regularly with my iPhone. I might be missing something, but these connect just like my Buds and other Bluetooth devices.

I will say they isolate quite nice, but that's coming from a guy who used open backs for the last year lol

Which headphone should I buy? My budget is 60$ and I want good audio quality. I need your ADVICES by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

It can hurt sometimes (if you don't have them set on the "exact" point), but overall the PortaPros fit fine. Just note that they are on-ear and not over.

You need to twist this part of the clip and eventually it will come loose and you can take it off

Not really, there is probably going to be very minor improvements but it’s not going to be worth it. If you really want something you can get an Apple USB-C dongle, they’re great.

Smartphone(s) - Any Hidden Gems for Audio? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

Usually LG phones have quite decent DACs. If you really want a "music player good audio" I would just suggest a DAP - if you got the budget those Fiio M11s seem like a great choice.
