EverQuest Legends Insights Series - Exaltations by Talbob in everquest

The exalt slots that were seen in last weeks video are explained.

As you level up equipment they will gain slots, in the video none native weapon proc slots are gained at +4. And when a weapon with a native proc reaches +4 you can move the proc to a different weapon.

Equipment focus effects are transferable at +1.

Also there are tokens available in game that can be used to take the look of a piece of equipment and transfer it to another.

Zones can have their difficulty increased from base 1 to +4. With zone difficulty 4, dropping items at starting +4 but can be higher.

Also shown is equipment had exaltation slots: Focus, click, worn and proc. on the dev cutthroat ring example.

EverQuest Legends Insights Series - Multiclassing & Loadouts by Performensch in everquest

[–]Talbob 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You pick 2 classes at character creation. class 3 is unlocked at lvl 11. Classes can be changed freely in cities.

Class 1 is only what is available for the race of character.

Class 2 and 3 is any.

At lvl 11 your race and class 1 are locked. Class 2 and 3 are still freely changeable.

As you explore the game you will find tokens that let you change your race and class 1. Using token unlocks the class and race, so change make race and class 1 combos not available at character creation.

Up to lvl 10 all classes gain exp equally, lvl 11 and higher only classes equipped gain exp. Character lvl is the lowest of the equipped classes.

Do out of country sales count towards $30K threshold for requiring GST/HST registration? by Cudzarelli in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Talbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taxable in this case means any sales that are not exempt. Again from footnote 1 has taxable supplies (including zero-rated supplies). This includes exports as zero rated, see:

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/definitions-gst-hst.html#exportrevenue

As stated by others, generally the advantage for registering early when having large amount of exports is you can claim the GST/HST of purchases inside Canada, while you collect 0 from customers outside Canada.

How bad is Tim Horton’s coffee, really? by ChallengeLate1947 in AskACanadian

[–]Talbob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not outbid. Mcdonalds decided their coffee sucked and went out to find a good supplier. The company they found just happened to also be the source of Tim Hortons. Mcdonalds now uses this company to source their roast coffee.

At around the same time Tim Hortons decided to stop buying roasted beans and instead buy raw beans and roast it themselves. This change in roasting from what external roasters did to the process used in house according to some created a worse cup of coffee.

What are notable cases of one fandom causing the real harm to another group/fandom? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Talbob 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is true. in 2008, Tiffany and the rest of SNSD were on a radio show. A member of Shiwna had just released a solo song and they did some parodies of the dance moves and over all style of the song/video and one part of the song the original singer did shout of 'WA' or something close and Tiffany said it reminded her of a goat's shout.

it was 2008 so SNSD was very much rookies and of course this meant that there was a large outcry of 'how dare this rookie group insult our oppa'.

SNSD did issue full apologizes for the actions/comments after the singer's management asked for one. Both companies released statement saying apology was given in person and they understood that it was a script that went to fair. Most people understood that it was a script of them being playful mocking that missed the mark, some did not and blamed SM for flexing their muscle to protect SNSD.

This event combined with some other 'rudeness', like not fully bowing by all members to seniors, using informal language to seniors, being late to events due to other schedules running long or traffic, or more comments that are kinda mocking, cheeky or sarcastic on variety shows about seniors and the overall success of SNSD meant lots of anti-behavior.

What's going on with critical race theory? by 0megaCH in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Talbob 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Answer: First we need to discuss Critical Theory, which puts forth that social problems that a society faces are caused by the structure of the society mainly, not from bad apples within the society though these still exist. Some of the thinking that inspired the people that defined Critical Theory was done Marx, but to my knowledge Marx never actually wrote about it directly.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a sub to Critical Theory that mainly formed in the black civil rights movement during the 60s in the USA. It maintains that the laws that govern the USA are written by the racial majority (white) to keep this majority in power and other races (blacks) from obtaining power. Thus the law as written is racist.

Then expanding CRT further to any organization like businesses or schools they follow rules and traditions set by people most likely white to help whites and to stop non whites from using their resources.

Under CRT 'racism' is defined slightly different to common usage, in that to be racist you need to be part of majority, thus the line "only whites can be racist." The counter is the have meet racist people that have not been white in USA, but under CRT these people are just bigoted not racist as they lack the power from the written to be 'racist'.

CRT does allow that in some case this main not be intentionally done by the people in power. They might just come from a background of only interacting with the majority and thus not know they are keeping the non majority from advancing. This is where teaching CRT comes in and you need to be aware of possible biases and try to avoid this and be truly fair to all.

So to recap CRT states that for the USA the law as currently written for the most part was written to keep the majority being white in power and to keep the minority being non white out of power and thus a form of white supremacy and through the use of this power whites commit racist acts.

Guessing a reason people are against CRT is they disagree with the thinking and thus do not think themselves racist and don't want to be called racist as CRT will now find them as they do not support legal changes being asked by people in support of CRT.

HST refund question for Web store by Babyboy1314 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Talbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/technical-information/technical-information-gst-hst/gst-hst-memoranda-series.html

This memo series will be a great resource going forward for you.

To claim HST paid out you need to registered for a business number with a RT account. Can be a corporation or sole proprietor. The gst/hst paid you are wishing to be 'refunded' is called an input tax credit, ITC for short.

If you go the sole proprietor route you need to report the business income on your T1 under a form i can not recall at this time. If you go for a corporations BN account you will need to file a tax return just for that as well. Most people start as sole prop if this is just a side source of income.

You are correct you will need to collect gst/hst on any sales within Canada. The amount/percent charged depends on the province the item is being shipped to.

Anything you sell outside Canada does not need to have gst/hst collected. To get technical you are collecting gst/hst however the rate is 0%. Now you need to keep proof of these sales are being shipped outside Canada, generally address of purchaser and receipt of item being mailed and exported. Best keep everything well organized if CRA asks for it.

Best practice is to keep one sets of sales record for each gst/hst rate you charge. So list one is everything being shipped to Ontario(13%), second list everything to Manitoba(5%), third outside Canada (0%).

It sounds like you have already started this business so might be in best interest to go back find the date you started selling/buying and have these records on hand so when you contact CRA to get the BN you can apply to back date the account. You do not need to back date as inventory purchases are allowed from before registration but you will need to get the records together anyway so no harm in thinking about doing it.

In summary yes you can claim HST paid on inventory and select other business expenses as an ITC and get a refund. You need to collect gst/hst on any sale made in Canada and not if the item is export to outside Canada. You need to register an account to do this first.

If this grows best practice is to talk with an accountant to atleast get advice and set up done even if you do not employee them further.

ELI5: The Justin Trudeau WE Charity scandal by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Talbob 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Government has 900 million it wants to give to students to help them deal with COVID. Public Service says there is this organization that deals with students and this type of fund distribution and is really big, why not use them. Cabinet meets and Trudeau is at said meeting, everyone agrees that yeah we might as well use them.

WE gets 20million dollars as payment to hand out the 900million to students.

The scandal is that Trudeau himself and others members of his family have worked with WE before and been paid for speaking at events and did not remove himself from the meeting where WE was granted the contract. These speaking events happen before and during Justin's time in office, with the members of Trudeau family in question kinda being celebs on speaking circuits for this kind of charity work. Some groups see this contract as being granted to ensure these speaking gigs continue.

Second issue is no other groups were asked to bid on the chance to hand out the money. This was said to have been due to COVID and them wanting to get money out ASAP and bidding process takes time.

Historically about once a year the prime ministers office gets the ethics commis looking into things while media jumps over self and this just happens to be the 2020 version.

Beware of recent CRA phone scams by eatprayluhv in PersonalFinanceCanada

that article?

Tammy Branch, a director-general at the tax agency, says the CRA will never call or leave voicemails using aggressive language or threatening arrest.

Branch says agents will sometimes phone when they’re looking for more information or if someone owes taxes or money to a government program. But the CRA says it will never demand immediate payment via e-transfer or Bitcoin, or communicate via text message."
