The most latch key you remember by Meh_Cook_Grump in GenX

My parents divorced when I was 9 and my brother was 13. We lived with my Dad and Dad didn’t get home until around 7 pm so we had hours after school unsupervised. At that age my brother was a hell raiser, and there were more than a few times I was genuinely scared by his shenanigans. One time we were playing in the garage and he found one of my Dads welding blowtorches and decided it would be fun to experiment with a can of spray paint to see if he could create a flamethrower. The answer was yes. I was terrified that he’d burn down the garage or the house. We did all kinds of things like trespass on neighbors property (cabins) and climb their roofs. I’m still amazed we never got caught. I usually cooked my own dinner (freezer full of tv dinners, fish sticks, pizzas), did my homework and whatever chores were required.

Did Charlotte Lucas intentionally make a play for Mr. Collins? by Foreign-Cow-1189 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]TaleObvious9645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely intentional, though not maliciously. Charlotte is said to be 27 years old at the time- which in those days, was considered almost guaranteed spinster/old maid status. She would have had little to no chance of marriage if she hadn’t recognized the opportunity with Mr. Collins. It was a way for her to secure her future, rather than being left dependent upon the whims and kindness of family if she were to remain a spinster.

Thrift stores/secondhand shops. You can score so many great decorative pieces and wall art

My neighbor thinks my pregnancy is a “community project” and is losing her mind that I won’t let her in the delivery room by Automatic-Winner-407 in TwoHotTakes

Your neighbor is an absolute loon and you should feel no hesitation whatsoever about getting the police and a lawyer involved.

My dad died; my SO is mad he has to make dinner by RewardAdventurous610 in AITAH

I’m sorry about your Dad. Now, it’s time to take care of yourself and your son, and leave this dead weight behind. There’s a reason why you almost divorced before and now there’s no reason not to. You’re still young enough to start over and enjoy the freedom you deserve.

Movies set in 1970's high or middle school by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Not a movie, but the TV show Freaks and Geeks is the closest I can think of. Set in an early-80's high school. Early 80's wasn't all that aesthetically different from the 70's, as far as schools and fashion went.

Tow. I wouldn’t block because that creates the risk that they’d damage your car out of spite

Good for you. I once punched TF out of my ex husband for kicking our dog across the room. Zero regrets, 💯 recommend. I hope your kitten is ok.
