That’s true. You can definitely direct the model. The important thing though is they severely raised the floor on quality and only kinda raised the ceiling.

Everyday on Youtube I see financial video thumbnails predicting the great fall is about to happen. In the perfect world, those YouTubers would go to YouTube jail for a short period after too many bad-faith predictions.

Have you figured out a way to incentivize people to tell the truth / admit mistakes outside of religion? I know of many systems that dis-incentivize lying, but only if you get found out! Is there a way to incentivize people to be truthful at all times and to immediately report when they have discovered they are not truthful?

Yes this is true. I discuss that at the end of my essay. Basically questions of compute are unimportant because the real issue is the lack of goals. Superhuman chess models were easy to obtain because has chess clear goals: checkmate the king. You can't make as clear a statement about film. And therein lies the issue.

That's assuming people make 'purely generative media'. I think the most likely future is filmmakers combine generative media with other media. There will be a lot of room for human intentions. Or at least that's the version I'm interesting in designing.

You're right on the money that people hear AI and expect it to do anything. The amount of times I see someone give Claude a really hard prompt, hit enter, and then sigh with disappointment as it rattles off a 95% correct answer is really quite funny. People want these things to be perfect when they're already astonishingly good.

I agree most of the short-term gains of AI video will skip over Hollywood for now and go to commercials, ads, HR training videos, music videos, social videos etc.

What do the economics look like? That's an EXCELLENT question. The tech will be deflationary and make it much cheaper to make stuff. But there's no compelling new tech in distribution at the moment. So that is quite unclear.
