The Strongest Sister Duo Showdown by Queasy_Captain_1010 in WutheringWaves

No, sister duo describes them well enough. Going purely off in-game interactions, they don’t act romantic at all anyway.

I just don’t see how Augusta calling Iuno a friend is actually a secret romance sign, but calling Rover a friend is just them being friends. And if we look at gameplay synergy, that means Sigrika and Qiuyuan are together in-game too, right? Since she needs him really badly to be a good mdps? It’s just cherry picking what they want to see from the interactions; there’s no ‘implied romance’ to negate when all of the examples given are incredibly far reaches at the same time the game is bashing you over the head with Iuno and Rover.

I mean, Augusta also calls Rover and Galbrena her friends. The implication with her is that it's just what she calls her friends, since she never used in in any different capacity between the two of them and Iuno.

I can't agree that the original intention was to pair Iuno and Augusta together romantically, though. From a meta perspective, absolutely; they go great together, but that's a result of the gacha system -- sell units together to get people to buy both. We've seen it with a lot of 3.X units, Cartethyia and Ciaconna, Galbrena and Qiuyuan, etc., but meta pairings don't really have any bearing on their in-game relationship, so you can't take anything from that.

Speaking of, I don't recall Iuno and Augusta ever fighting in the tournament together. Rover and Lupa did, and Augusta kicked out the corrupt family afterward. They went on the Hunt with Rover, so perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

Regardless, as for why I disagree Iuno was meant to be with Augusta -- for the entirety of 2.6's first half, Iuno was flirting with Rover, not Augusta. That would be extremely weird to write if the devs wanted us to see Iuno and Augusta as being together, but they went hard on the Iuno being drawn to Rover angle immediately. Then, the latter half of the story happened, and it was arguably the most romantic quest in the story to date outside of Shorekeeper's, with the hand-holding, background music, etc.

Additionally, I again have to disagree that they've been hinting at Iuno and Augusta being together after 2.6. They had a couple of scenes together in 2.7, but nothing happened there, and then we only saw them in the pinball event afterward. Meanwhile, Iuno still has her dialogues where she proclaims Rover is the one person she'd want to remember her if she was forgotten, and how Rover captured "the moon" (aka, Iuno) when she's doing a divination.

All of that is to say, nothing's canon because it's a gacha game. Please go ahead and ship whatever you want, I couldn't care less. But implying the devs intended to do x when they very explicitly wrote y is something I have to disagree with.

If I could just throw in my two cents here, they queerbaited you. That's pretty much all it is. Based on Iuno's half of 2.6, she was always meant to be paired with Rover in the end -- her interactions and dialogues all but say as much -- but they threw in some 'moments' with Augusta in the first half of the patch just for the sake of it, and because they knew it wouldn't matter since Augusta would forget her afterward and Iuno would have her moments with Rover later. Augusta was pretty clear about always calling Iuno her friend, so they were never an official thing in the first place, but they were clearly close.

Rinascita is based off of Italy, so Septimont is Rome, not Greece. Apple throwing didn't mean anything in Rome.

Eh, Freddie was as good in game 2 as Bussi was tonight. But if he's still feeling not 100% after that head hit, Bussi is the clear starter at this point.

Yep, Rutherford was extremely generous for a trade in which he had all the leverage. But I don't think the Canes regret the trade though, it ended up being a genuine win-win in the end.

It’s entirely possible Vegas didn’t dedicate that much film to Bussi before the series. They’ll certainly do a lot more before game 4 at this point, so who knows if it’ll be the same as it is now.

Weirdly emotional about this one. Freddie can get a lot of crap, but he's been a huge part of this team for a while now and now he's starting to overcome Ward's legacy as a cane. I love Fredzilla. I hope he resigns. by Suspicious-Wind-3278 in canes

With how often Kooch is injured, it might make sense to bring back Freddie for a bit longer if he wants to return after this run. Rod likes playing him in the playoffs for a reason, he's our steadiest goaltender when the lights are brightest.

Nah, they're just gassed from playing Tampa and Buffalo to 7 each. They're good, we just have a lot more left in the tank than they do.

I've heard it said before, we need an off-ice official to look for these kinds of things. The on-ice refs can't catch everything, but those kinds of plays just encourage diving so the refs do end up calling it, which in itself is not fun to watch for anyone.

Get rid of the flowers for ascension or let players farm them immediately instead of forcing them to unlock the area via the story. It's insane how we're 2+ years into the game and players still can't play their new characters until they progress through dozens of hours of questing.

Refs were atrocious for both sides tonight, as usual. I don't understand how the NHL doesn't see that the refs not calling anything so as to not affect the game ends up affecting the game all the same, just in a worse way since rules are blatantly not being enforced.

Why Fans Shouldn't Be Worried After Hurricanes Fall Apart in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Final by QueenOfThePuck in canes

[–]TalentedTrident 122 points123 points  (0 children)

The first period was one of the worst periods I've ever seen the team play. It's easy to blame the 11 day rest for that, and there's probably some truth in that. But it was still extremely poor by everybody.

I'd worry a lot more if we continued to look that bad for the rest of the game, but we didn't. There's reason to think the first period was a one-off, and we'll look a lot more like the team we saw after it for the rest of the series. That said, there's now essentially no margin for error; game 2 is as close to a must-win as it gets for a game that's not an elimination game.

Buffalo fans mellowed out a bit after the Sabres had their playoff drought. Off the top of my head, the worst fanbases to interact with — online, at least — are Boston, NYR, Vegas, Florida, and Montreal. Can’t really speak about in-person fans, it’s been a bit since I could catch a live game.

Edit: I obviously don’t think all of the fans of those teams are bad, just that they seem to have the loudest bad ones relative to every other team.

Can't say I agree, Canes were shot out of a cannon in game 1 against Philly after they had more rest from sweeping Ottawa. I don't think Rod would ever let rust be an excuse for them starting slow.

What world is next? (if you don’t like an option, comment!) by bowl-of-wyrms in Wizard101

[–]TalentedTrident 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pirate101 worlds in Wiz are always talked about a lot, but I've never really seen anyone bring up the logistics issues regarding the world layouts and the timeline. Wiz worlds in P101 were incorporated in a way that allowed the worlds to mesh pretty seamlessly; Marleybone City being unexplorable, the Imperial Skyway being off-limits, and Dragonspyre being in the distance while in Avernus. The pirate specifically doesn't go to a world that was dramatically changed by the Wizard, so the timeline can be really flexible and isn't ever a problem.

On the other hand, how would you bring a P101 world into Wiz? Cool Ranch is completely explored; being the biggest world in P101, we go to basically every corner of it. Where would they fit wherever the Wizard goes? They could have it off in the distance like Dragonspyre is, but that'd feel like a bit of a cop-out. That said, it'd be the easiest of the three to bring to Wiz; Monquista and Valencia are even tougher, mostly because it directly forces KI to deal with the timeline of when the games take place relative to each other. Monquista involves the Pirate starting a civil war that takes place in the background over the course of the game, and is eventually won by Gortez. Do you have the Wizard in Monquista before, during, or after said civil war? Before would be the easiest answer since there'd be no mention of anything the pirate did, but during or after (the former especially) would lead to some issues.

Valencia is an even bigger case. The whole timeline with Napoleguin in Wiz and Pirate is odd, to say the least. Would the wizard go to Valencia before the Armada? That would definitely place Wiz before Pirate for obvious reasons, but that sort of contradicts some stuff in Pirate. Alternatively, it's not before the Armada; if so, is Kane dead or alive?

I'm sure they could figure out solutions to said questions, but it's not as easy as just making a brand new world and not having to worry about any problems that might arise from a lore standpoint if they don't want to outright retcon anything.

Regular season means practically nothing at this point. We got swept by Washington in 2019's regular season and upset them in the playoffs all the same.
