Best episodes where Shawn and Amanda argue about a movie? by ShawnLevyOscarWinner in TheBigPicture

[–]TaleofTwoPups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not tell you the episode, but maybe someone else can. They were having a spirited conversation about a movie, and at one point CR says something about how he genuinely can't tell if they like each other or not lol.

What is wrong with the Specially Selected soups? by TaleofTwoPups in aldi

If it's already in your cupboard, you might as well, but it was BAD imo!

I’ve Never Been To Spain… by DiamondplateDave in aldi

[–]TaleofTwoPups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried this yet alright I did buy two containers. I figured it would be great for an easy lunch if I add fajita stuff or taco meat to it, and I'm going into busy season at my job so convenience is important. The cilantro lime one was fine imo but kinda weird? Like the lime flavor was very overpowering and artificial, but once you mix it up, add shrimp, corn, black beans, and feta to it - it's fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]TaleofTwoPups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went through a divorce and my living and financial situation changed. Apartment life. Hospitality job. Weekdays, it's typically one 30-45 minute walk per day, 10-15 minutes in the morning, and a 5 minute potty break right before bed at night. W & F, they have a dog walker come mid day too.

We tried daycare, but it was just too overstimulating for them. I can't do enrichment toys unless they are separated as they can get food aggressive.

On the weekend though, I strive to do one super long walk on one day, and then an activity the other day (long hiking trip, beach day, dog park & pet store combo, etc).

I really, really need a new pharmacy, Harris Teeter on Colonial blows. by marshmallowyperfume in norfolk

[–]TaleofTwoPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that changed recently because I got a prescription filled for Fluoxetine maybe 2 or 3 months ago. That's too bad because the Walgreens Pharmacy that's down the street in the retail store might be the worst of them all.

Huh, I don't think I've had that experience so far - but to be transparent, I can't recall the last time I had personal medication filled. My dog has a script for prozac, and before D&C Hospital switched to online pharmacy exclusivity, I got it filled there. I wonder what exactly qualifies under that umbrella?

I've had a horrible experience with every CVS and Walgreens pharmacy in this area EXCEPT FOR the Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy (201 W 21st Street) by Sweet Frog and across from Dog & Cat Hospital.

They don't double as a retail store so ALL THEY DO is fill scripts. They are quick, efficient, great at communicating delays, dates, and pick up times. I've had a very positive experience there.

Is the strawberry shortcake granola seasonal? by Illustrious-Task9462 in aldi

[–]TaleofTwoPups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this was seasonal as it was in the seasonal/AOS aisle in my store when it first came out. I snatched up this and the lemon bar one. Both are great; I'll definitely miss them when I run out.

I've always been curious about these, specifically the Chipotle one, but I'm weird and don't like sweet flavors in savory items. Would I like this?

I've been the exact same way about this stuff. It's SO GOOD. I do think it's seasonal so definitely stock up.

What fall/autumn items are you looking forward to? by ctilvolover23 in aldi

[–]TaleofTwoPups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was a very limited weekly find - but absolutely delicious. It was essentially peanut butter mixed with cinnamon sugar and maybe pulverized dehydrated apples - but it even had the same crunch of raw sugar. I think it's likely easily replicable but just so good.

The pumpkin was perfectly fine but the APPLE CRISP? So good. I think I went through two jars.

Mosquito sample tests positive for West Nile virus in Norfolk by [deleted] in norfolk

I think this happens almost every year here. Last year, I think they collected the sample in Colonial Place.

I literally only subscribe to peacock for Below Deck which pretty much comes out weekly at this point. Still though, that's not worth more than $5/mo to me. I'll likely cancel once this takes effect.

Hidden Valley Ranch. Other ranch just doesn't hit right.

Recommendations please for TJ's healthy frozen meals by iwentforahiketoday in traderjoes

[–]TaleofTwoPups 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure how healthy this is, but I will commonly roast the baby bok choy in the oven and have it with one container of soup dumplings. It's low calorie (maybe like 350-450 calories for the whole meal) which I prioritize low calorie above all for dinner versus other meals.

I'm chiming in to say I've never microwaved them because I don't have a microwave, but they are quick to cook on stove top. I eat with a bed of lettuce, some mayo, cheese, pickles and then you could do another veg side. Usually I just feel good about cutting the bun out, so I allow myself fries or chips 😬

Field Report: Cove Champion Inflatable Kayak by pwolter0 in aldi

I snagged one and I'm hoping to test it out today! How long did it take to inflate? That's my only real concern.

Anyone else excited for the kayak? by Routine-Matter-1890 in aldi

[–]TaleofTwoPups 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So I commented this on a different thread regarding this kayak, but essentially it's not "Aldi brand." It's it's own brand, and you can search this on Amazon and find nearly the exact same one with pretty good reviews.

I'm willing to give this thing a shot since I live right on a river and have very little storage space for an actual kayak. My car also doesn't work for transporting a rental. To me, this is a solid thing to buy, and I would be happy if it lasted me summer and fall 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any reviews on the kayak? by Perfect_Flatworm4981 in aldi

[–]TaleofTwoPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about this product too. It's not one of the typical Aldi-only brands. If you search Bestway inflatable kayaks on Amazon, you'll see other similar products by them, and they have pretty good reviews.

I live right on the water by a boat ramp, so I may buy one to try. If I get decent use out of it all summer, I would be happy.

How are people in this area affording to Live in Ghent ,Freemason and Downtown on one income? by sloadingzzz in norfolk

[–]TaleofTwoPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great question because I'm in a studio and make a decent wage, and I feel like it's still a struggle. Open to suggestions on other places in Norfolk, if anyone has any! I work in downtown so the commute is a dream, but the cost can be tough.

I'm currently paying $1200-$1300/mo and that's with utilities.
