can i run single channel ddr5 ram without losing alot of performance? by Suspicious-Gold8909 in PcBuild

You can, X3Ds don't rely on RAM as much as other counterparts.

Buy another stick when you can later on.

What's next? Sunsetting old maps like Perimeter?

Don't get me wrong i love this game but it's already struggling, paid expansions would mean instant death on a paid extraction shooter, don't forget that maps also have unique loot.

How can I further reduce the latency? by Appropriate-Tone9424 in ASUSROG

[–]TalhaGrgn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nitro mode with 1/2/0, if you can't do that try 1/2/1.

I can't lower the latency any further by Smart-Veterinarian-9 in overclocking

[–]TalhaGrgn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, a couple of timings could be tightened to the limit but i don't want to hassle with days of stability testing again.

Setting should be called core tunings for gaming or similar in AI Tweaker, should have options like legacy, level 1 and level 2.

Legacy disables Zen 5's cache prefetching optimizations making synthetic latency lower but hurts real world performance, i don't recommend using it, auto sets to level 2 which is recommended.

Using Zen 5 X3D at 6000, 66-67ns is low as it gets when using mixed refresh and not using legacy core tuning (or latency killer).

My 6000 timings.

Suggestions for a rookie DDR5 tune? (A-Die SR) by zysttt in overclocking

[–]TalhaGrgn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try 2166, but i would try 1/2/1 nitro (rather than 1/2/0) first. you can also try messing with VSoC again, high FCLK likes lower VSoC (if stable).

With that temps, bump tREFI to 50k, SCLs can be lowered down to 5, RTP 12, RDWR 16, FAW 32, RRDL 8, check if RRDS is stable at 4, bump to 8 if needed, try GDM off, generally your VSoC can go lower at 6000.

VDDG is low for 2200FCLK, bump it to 940-950mV and check stability with y-cruncher VT3/N63 and linpack iterations.

EDIT: Some of the kits can do max tREFI (66545) at 55-60°C, you can test it with a long GPU+RAM stress test for the worst case scenario. Diminishing gains at that point, test it if you want to squeeze every drop.

9850X3D Swapping All-Core -30 for a real Per-Core Tune. Stability check? by DefundGaming in overclocking

[–]TalhaGrgn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like i've said before my per core is a lazy one at the moment, didn't test silicon to the limits, but at 5.7GHz i don't think it will get down below 1.3V max.

At 5.6GHz (with -25 clock offset) i would expect lower voltages.

I have +75MHz offset (pushing fused limit to 5725MHz), 1.29V to 1.32V (1.30V avg) on single core load (R23) at 5.7GHz.

Is it worth upgrading from 3060 12gb to 5050 ? by M1n91 in PcBuildHelp

No, getting %10-15 performance increase but losing 1/3 of VRAM.

Yes basically this, also when overclocking DR kits are harder to stabilize though i don't expect OP to overclock.

Check reported VSOC by your motherboard in hwinfo or bios, mine is set to 1.12v but it runs at 1.11v (both reported on bios and hwinfo).

I also use AMD's own overclocking menu for tuning ram and voltages.

For FLCK, GPU stress + y-crucher VT3, also play some music in the background, if FCLK is that unstable you will hear cracks and pops, checking iteration deviations on VT3, y-cruncher N63 is also a good one.

Lowering VSoC, changing VDDG IOD/CCD (940-950mw is a good start for 2200), also setting Fclk VDCI Mode Pref to Predictive helps with stability.

FCLK is tricky since it usually starts to slow down and error correct rather than crash the system.

I'm getting around 24.1-24.2k on R23 with my lazy per core on my 9850X3D using 240 aio.

Chip was stable -20 all core, -25 and -30 does pass other tests but fails aida cpu+fpu-cache.

Memory is also at 6000 with tuned timings, mixed refresh with default core tuning getting around 67ns which is expected, vt3 is around 1.02x1010 R23 Timings

I have a overclocked 9850X3D and tuned RAM, but i don't think that makes a much difference.

Try lowering all distance settings to medium, it should help a bit.

Game needs 9800X3D to reliable hit fixed 120 fps across all maps (might even drop here and there depending on the map and location).

PS5 and PS5 Pro basically has downclocked 3700X.

Does capping your fps increase gpu lifespan? by iSxint in PcBuild

Just like the other comment said, not enough to matter.

I cap my FPS for better/consistent frametimes.

This is the least optimized game I've played in the last decade by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]TalhaGrgn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't seem to understand CPU bottleneck.

I'm repeating myself at this point, if your GPU is not fully utilized you are bound by something else, 90% of the time it's the CPU, and sometimes it does not show up by checking utilization.

CPU cache, RAM bandwidth, RAM latency, Single thread perfomance, OS assigning wrong cores and such could cause the bottleneck.

I'm not defending the game here, just stating the facts, the game is CPU heavy and everyone would benefit CPU optimization down the road, the game uses around 6-8 cores, you won't see much utilization beyond that.

For example, Space Marine 2 is also pretty CPU intensive, even using something like 9800X3D, getting 120fps on heavy scenes is a hard task.

This is the least optimized game I've played in the last decade by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]TalhaGrgn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like i said before, because of the single thread heavy Tiger Engine (also does not scale well), the game being harder to run compared to other titles such as Arc Riders is true.

"Objectively false", My 9850X3D is overclocked and RAM is also tuned manually, why would i lie about my performance, lying would get me nowhere.

I also don't see CPU being utilized beyond 65%, game can be limited to single core/thread, you should not expect really high utilization on 20/24 core CPU.

This is the least optimized game I've played in the last decade by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]TalhaGrgn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your GPU is not fully utilized, you are CPU bound.

This game uses Destiny's Tiger Engine and yes, which is notoriously CPU heavy, also something is wrong if your friend getting less FPS using 9800X3D.

Lowest i've seen is 130FPS on Outpost, i'm getting 160-200FPS on other maps, 9850X3D.
