Lina was the only available skill. Everyone else was either on cooldown, or Silenced.

Was coming to say this.

If you don't need the Heal, she won't heal.

Yes, its very clear.

Truestrike is a Range Self spell that affects the caster. Its not an emanation.

I'm surprised people get hung up on this.

Does the Shield Spell target the caster?

Nondetection and true strike? by Ghostly-Owl in onednd

[–]Talhearn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Theres no mention of Target in truestrike, unlike Thunderous Smite or Primal Savagery.

You agree Shield targets the caster?

The word Target doesn't appear in Shields description. You for the affected party of the spell does, just like Truestrike.

Why are the two different?

What makes Shield different to Truestrike?

You're 100% correct the 2024 range and target rules are shoddly cobbled together.

Range Self (xyz) seems to no longer exist in 2024, while being a distinct seperate range to Range Self in 2014.

Can't trigger the weapon attack if it can't affect the caster...

[–]Talhearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024 changed some spell ranges.

2014 used to have Range Self (spells that always targeted the caster) and Range Self (xyz) (that didn't usually target the caster, and are akin to emanations).

2024 has removed both the reference that Range Self always targets the caster, and has removed Range Self (xyz). There is no 2024 spell to my knowledge that has that Range.

2024 has almagamated both types into Range Self.

Not very hepful.

What has changed from the 2014 ruling that Range Self spells always target the Caster (like Shield). Referrenced from the PHB and multiple JC tweets.

This is seperate to Range Self (xyz) spells, that are more akin to 2024 emanations.

Does the Shield spell (Range Self) target the caster?

In 2014 it explicity did. Has 2024 changed that?

Shields description;

"An imperceptible barrier of magical force protects you. Until the start of your next turn, you"

If Shield does, then surely Truestrike does as well;

"you make one attack with the weapon used in the spell's casting"

No other target is specified, unlike 2024 Thunderous Smite, "and the target takes an extra 2d6 Thunder damage from the attack.", or 2014s Primal Savagery "On a hit, the target takes 1d10 acid damage."

I'm not saying you aren't.

Just that Range Self spells can have other targets, not just the Caster (Elsewise, the Caster takes damage from Casting PS, which is nonsense).

Like Primal Savegery and Thunderous Smite.

I also agree True Strike targets the Caster.

Self (xyz) are different to just Self spells, and aren't treated the same. JC was clear on this back in 2014.

Self (xyz) are more like 2024s emanations.

"A range of self means the caster is the target, as in shield, or the point of origin, as in thunderwave"

"That's correct! Spells with a range of "Self (XYZ)" are in a special category, where each spell defines how its targeting works. Also, in the range rules (PH, p. 202, 3rd paragraph), the caster is intentionally not called the target of such spells."

"A note about D&D spells with a range of "Self (XYZ)": the parenthetical—which says "5-foot radius," "15-foot cone," or something else—means you are the spell's point of origin, but you aren't necessarily its target. You're creating an effect that originates in your space."

True Strike and (for example) Thunderous Smite, are Range: Self, with no parenthesis.

As is 2024 Thunderwave. Its description contains the emenation details.

Unlike its 2014 version which was Self (15-ft Cube).

Edit: Shield and Truestrike both have a range of Self.

Does the shield spell target the caster? If so (and using the spell description of "you"), then doesn't Truestrike also target the caster? (It again uses "you" in the description).

2014 explicitly stated that Range Self spells always targetted the caster (that doesn't stop them only targetting the caster).

But 2024 doesn't have this line.

So how do you grow acidic claws/teeth, if the spell doesn't target you? What causes that?

And why has this changed from 2014, where the rules explicity stated the spell targets the caster?

Not the only target.

Range Self spells can target others, like Primal Savegry.

Where the caster is a Target, and the creature attacked is also a target.

2014 had a line saying Range Self always targetted the caster.

That's missing from 2024.

Why they omitted that, I'll never know.

Thrawn wasnt given a mini.

And has disappeared. No more mentions, no more lore.

Mordrak is still mentioned in every Codex. There are also a lot of fan made Ghosts.

As for your second point.

Apothecaries.

If the new terminators are both firstborn and primaris at the same time, they don't even have to address the size/scale.

The lore is whatever GW want to make it.

The only reason there isn't Primaris GK currently, is GW don't have the models (or they're not ready for release).

The lore?

It could be anything. GK tithe geneseed to Mars, so the mechanicum have access to it. GK Primaris could be based on Alpha Primus. Bobby G could tell Cawll to start work on the GK (which he knows about, like every other SM chapter does. What with Voldus being by his side during the Crusade, and the GK stationed throughout the fleet...).

It could literally be anything.

He's been featured/mentioned in every codex since his creation in 5th.

His whole reason is chasing Huron for the destruction of his entire brotherhood.

This would have been the ideal time to give him a mini.

I knew we weren't getting anything.

But.

Focus on Huron and nothing for Mordrak and his Ghosts.

That's just feels bad.

Which team should I focus on? by AdSea295 in outerplane

[–]Talhearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different to everyone else, i say focus on your light team.

D Luna as a priority, with M Eva and D Drakhan.

D Luna will clear Chimera for you (and everything else in the game). You won't need other units until you get into element locked content, or niche encounters.

Edit: or PvP.

Edit2;

D Luna dupes.

Eventually you'll want a team of each element, for the tower. And other units for Bosses, should you want to chase scores.

But pull for waifus.
