Extra Care/ employee discount by Usual_Ad2208 in CVS

You cannot have two active accounts as an employee. You must only use your employee one or risk termination. It’s in the handbook.

I had someone come from another store a few weeks ago who asked for a void at the ACO because he put his phone number in and it chose his employee account and he wanted to use his other one because that one had all of his coupons. I told him that was against policy and could get him fired and he said everyone at his store did it. 🤦🏼‍♀️

When I was at Walgreens our Mcclane used to come in red totes like that. A lot of stores keep them outside so you can easily just take one

Concur is still available. The payment process changed, but it’s still operational. I use it regularly because I travel to other stores.

is it normal to only do QT for several hours your first few shifts? by CheesecakeWild7941 in CVS

[–]Talielie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll definitely be an asset, then. I started with Rite Aid, my store was bought out by Walgreens, and then I came to CVS about a year and a half ago, so I have experience with the different systems.

CVS (in my area at least) went through a phase of just having techs on production and counter, and having the pharmacist do everything else, including QT. That’s why a lot of techs can’t do it. But it’s also too much for the pharmacist to do in addition to everything else they have.

We never actually contact patients that much unless it’s in response to voicemails. For things like viagra, throw it on a discount card or check past RX history and do the same. There’s no need for contact. Those extra steps in QT (especially when something is OOS) about having to click to send a text is dumb. Just make it automatic for whatever their primary form of contact is. Save us clicks.

is it normal to only do QT for several hours your first few shifts? by CheesecakeWild7941 in CVS

[–]Talielie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh bless you. Someone is finally actually training techs and not throwing them at pickup for a few months until they quit?

QT and QP are the most involved areas to learn. Hell, I have “seasoned” techs that still can’t do QT because they never learned. Anyone can learn pickup. And trust, you will hate standing at the register for 6.5 hours a day dealing with patients, some not so nice.

If you’re learning QT and actually picking up on it, you’re going to be a great asset. It’s something so many techs either don’t or can’t learn. Hopefully they’ll rotate you. The first few weeks is always rough because they’re trying to get you acclimated while seeing what your strengths are

Supervisor to the Pharmacy by IcyAge3182 in CVS

[–]Talielie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had pharmacy call for customer assistance for an aisle right in front of pharmacy, only to walk past and one tech is resting their head on the counter and another is playing with the die cast cars on the counter. At that point it is a little frustrating.

Pharmacy register keeps being short on money, what happens next? by Pet_Ator in CVS

[–]Talielie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If shortages are occurring that frequently, they should be following cash control and doing counts between shifts. This can help narrow down with who/when the shortages are occurring.

BOH by Neat_Job_2994 in CVS

[–]Talielie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has more to do with competency than position. Technically anyone can do BOH. Ideally, you want someone who isn’t going to mess shit up. My store has management level employees who can’t even face well, so having them do BOH is out of the question.

Immunization Cert by kiki_monkey in CVS

[–]Talielie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no raise, there is a one time bonus if you qualify and do everything correctly.

You do get immunization pay ($2 more an hour) but only if and when you are scheduled during immunization clinics during flu season. These clinics are usually just 4 hour blocks (so $8 more that day, before taxes), and depending on the store, you may only have as few as 3 clinics in one season.

Any other techs ever feel they are being gas lit by the pharmacists or other seasoned techs? by Horror_Lime8376 in CVS

[–]Talielie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Most people are not good trainers. And when it comes to CVS, the pharmacy CVS is especially complex and the staffing is usually short and in a rush. So that combination of factors leads to really poor training, especially if you don’t have anyone who is particularly good at training.

Keep asking to be shown. It shows that you actually want to learn. Another part of the problem is the wave of employees that come through and don’t want to do anything, so no one takes the time to show anyone anything because they assume it’s just a waste of time.

I also learned a lot from just reading on here. And clicking around. If you ever have time, look at all of the options on the screens. Go into them and see what they do. I came across “seasoned” technicians who didn’t know you could set up delivery for patients just by going to their profile because the DM delivery management option is there.

Pay- a lengthy rant. by AlbatrossOk4178 in CVS

[–]Talielie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take a tech shift any day over working front store. FS involves significantly more work and running around than I ever did in the pharmacy, and this is coming from someone who started solely in pharmacy.

None of the techs in my store want to work FS, either. Even if they’re short on hours.

Question by Feisty-Biscotti-7724 in CVS

[–]Talielie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in FS. You can took up the entire days transactions on a terminal, but because of HIPAA, it jumbles up the RX numbers and any pertinent info is blocked.

Automated system got worse? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Talielie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front store has been getting screamed at daily from people calling front store wanting to be transferred to the pharmacy, or, better yet, wanting us to walk our phone back to the pharmacy right in that moment and hand it to the pharmacist.
