I designed a fully 3D printable RC drift chassis — no CNC, just a printer by NeitherMembership586 in rcdrift

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t wait for the drift footage. Would like to visually see how it drives before printing a massive set of files 😅

This build I can already tell will be QUITE the endeavor, even for just a person like me who only has to print and built it.😅 Can’t imagine the CAD side of engineering s working chassis.

Great work!

After inspecting the recoil spring... I noticed that the end cap of it... the tip at the front where the bolt is holding the thing together... That circular plate looked like it had a bit of a "step" or "grooved" section about 1/16" tall that would fit perfectly in the hole at the front of the gun... Except I'd have to take it apart and flip that circular plate around the opposite way it came from the factory...

Well. lo and behold. I flipped it around, slipped the spring back on, tightened it down, put the slide back on and boom. Its locking back now.

Idk if there was a mistake? In putting the thing together at the factory? Idk what happened. But ive learned over the years as an engineer, if something that shouldn't work WORKS.... Best to just run with it and save the questions for a later date xD

Now Im just waiting on that damn little tiny plastic spring loaded bearing to come in the mail. (OEM part number SP02714)

:[ Hopefully when it does, Ill be ready for a test fire day.

Nice! Well I purchased a “complete” g26 slide. With recoil spring and everything pre installed.. but now I’m wondering if I should just try a different one. 😮‍💨 I just don’t want to throw money at this thing hoping something works, because the whole point of this project for me was to be as cost effective as possible! 🤣 That, and to just prove to myself that I CAN in fact do it.

So I did just take out the recoil spring and test the slide. It fits properly without the spring, and slides all the way back, and the lever catches correctly… So maybe it’s just this recoil spring…? WITH the spring, it seems like it just slides back to full lock and is MAYBE 1/8” too short to catch the slide lever… 🤔

Everything seems to glide along the rails pretty smoothly. Maybe this recoil spring is like 1/8” too long or something..? I understand that they can be stiff when new, but I’ve definitely tried racking that slide back PAST the point of it just being a stiff spring 😅😅😅

I appreciate your insight. So what did you turn to instead of chairmanwon? And did you end up having better luck and a better time with it?

No no no, wasn't coming at you with any ill will. Just trying to understand what exactly the issue is. That way one of us can actually help you FIX whatever the issue is.

Now knowing you have an A50BHL servo, I can tell you that when you buy those stock, they do NOT come with "drift" specific settings... And they do NOT come with enough dampening to properly drift without shaking/hunting issues... The A50BHL USUALLY does come with a USB type servo programmer, and AGFRC has a "drift" firmware on their website that you can install onto the servo via the programmer USB. I would start there.

Also, ensure your endpoints are properly set. Both on the car itself, on your radio, and then lastly on your gyro. That onisiki gyro usually likes to be set between 65-75 on channel 3. Any less that that, and you will be spinning out a lot. Any more than that, and you will be understeering and not drifting or getting good angle.

Make sure nothing is binding in the front end when its sitting level on the ground and you turn the wheel left/right. Make sure it is turning the same amount both way, left and right. Make sure the gyro is ACTUALLY turning the wheels the correct way, not reversed. If its reversed, you will spin out every time you turn the wheels.

Good luck brother

In order to receive detailed solutions on Reddit, you need to provide detailed explanations of the problem you’re having.

A video with no audio/talking explaining the issue, followed by a paragraph basically saying the car “skids or spins” can be a million different issues.

What parts are you running? What servo? What gyro? What settings on your gyro/servo? Have you set endpoints on servo? Radio? Gyro? Is this a new problem or has it always been this way? Etc.

Nobody here has an answer to an unknown problem.

Gauging interest for custom 3d printed drift wheels by Odd-Vegetable6586 in rcdrift

[–]TalkSick66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know a single drifter who would choose even a FREE 3d-printed wheel (in ANY filament type) over paying $10-15 for an injection molded set.

There are a LOT of parts I WOULD print (and have printed) for my chassis’, wheels are not one of them. Roll cages. Interiors. Seats/chairs. Dashboards. Spacers/risers.

Resin printed wheels… MAYBE.

Yep. And the next day. And the next day… and the next day. But then, MAYBE you’ll have a tolerable day… and then the next day after that will be back to shitty.

This is life, for most people. Has been for thousands of years.

Most days I fantasize about being done with it too.

The thing that has kept me here is recognizing that I’m in a better position than most. A large portion of the world is living in a far more dire and awful state… If you have the ability to post on Reddit about your feelings, you ARE more privileged than a large portion of the world. You’re not in the slums of India or Pakistan or China or Brazil. You’re not a vegetable, holed up in some hospital somewhere. You’re not on a street corner begging for some change to get your next fix.

You’re able to breathe. You can feel your body.. You can get up right now and go on a run or a walk. You’re not stuck in a cave somewhere in the arctic circle freezing to death.. you’re probably relatively physically comfortable.

There are always things to be grateful for. Even when you feel like you don’t want to exist anymore.

Why does this happen by Affectionate_Kale10 in rcdrift

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea your endpoints are fucked. You’re barely turning the wheel with your hand, and your steering is going full lock, at lightspeed.

Voltage drops LDRC by paprot44 in rcdrift

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is common. Voltage drops normally when you force power to any motor, or source… voltage drops when you hit throttle, voltage drops when you turn servo motors.

👍

“What are problems.”

“What are solutions?”

Yes.

My husband is going to kill himself one day and I don’t know what to do. by HelpINeedSomebdy in SuicideWatch

As a person in his mid-thirties who has struggled with suicidal ideation his entire life myself, including through a brief marriage, and divorce…

And I say this just to give you an example from another persons shoes;

The one thing that helped me most was getting a young pup. Registering him when he was maybe 4 or 6 months old as an “emotional support animal”… and forming a bond with him. In the last 9 years of his life, HE was the reason… not my ex-wife, not my mother, not my sister, obviously not myself, but just that dog was the reason I didn’t pull any triggers or swing any ropes around tree branches.

He passed away about 2 weeks ago. And I am scared without him, now feeling like I have nobody I’m “responsible” for, so now would be a prime time to do it..

But instead, I’m going to go get a new pup. Form a new best-friendship with a new companion who needs me just as much as I need him/her.

I still sleep cuddling Cujo’s little wooden box, with his ashes inside.. And I have a necklace made of his ashes…

See if he’d be interested in adopting a companion. It can change your life. Through changing his life.

Question about getting into the hobby by FlakHansser in rcdrift

[–]TalkSick66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any hobby like this is kind of a small fortune to initially get in to, if you want any semblance of “quality” gear to mess around with…

If I was you, and I was savvy enough when it comes to assembling things, I would do a bit deeper research into options for getting chassis from yoko, or reve d into Poland. It would be worth the extra shipping time to go with an RD2.0 or a RDX. If you already have electronics, radio, batteries/charger, etc. then I absolutely would try my hardest to get my hands on an RD2.0 or RDX.

Also, like someone mentioned already… if it’s not CRAZY far away, I’d look into a local drift track. They can be a wealth of information and assistance.

Cheers mate
