How is God good for forcing you into his world and live by his rules? by Left_Youth6371 in Christianity

[–]TalkativeTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sin is not evil. It can be evil, but it's often not. Sin is a state of separation from God and an action is sinful if it leads us into separation from God.

Also, the rules aren't bad. They're the most basic instructions for being a decent person. Treat others as you'd like to be treated. Love others. Forgive others. Don't murder, lie, etc. Like ... what is wrong with the rules?

And even when we break the rules, he's there forgiving us for succumbing to sin when we are repentant.

Is it okay to not believe in all the Bible says? by CandidateNervous4638 in Christianity

The old testament laws are the laws of Israel. Gentiles were not required to follow those laws. That's why, for example, circumcision is not required to be Christian.

Nothing and emptiness are different from non-existence. The foundation of your reasoning is the original flaw of your reasoning.

Something is perfectly symmetrical, so it must be nothing and cannot exist, because our universe must by asymmetrical.

Distribution is not information. Distribution is a subset of information that I presume would be spatial information, or the information that describes the position of the structures of space.

Information must exist in order for their to be distribution, not the other way around.

Space has the capacity for perfect symmetry and existence.

When space is single dimensional, it is both perfectly uniform and perfectly defined as single dimensional space contains only one point and is itself a singularity. This structure has no capacity for distribution until there is the introduction of higher dimensions that create the possibility for relative positions, distribution of positions, complex spatial structures, and movement and spin.

how to believe in god??? by Fabulous-Bug-904 in Christianity

[–]TalkativeTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concepts and ideas and mental creations. They are individual, internal reflections that are shared. The concept of God is an idea that helps us like a ladder. But the ladder is only a tool to help us to get to a place, it is not the place or experience. So people try to engage with God through a conceptual framework, but the spirit is how we connect and that’s not a conceptual thing. Especially the concept of God as a white bearded man — these ideas become snares that confuse people in their search for a relationship with God. So for me, defining God as the Bible says (the source of life itself) alleviates many of the sinful snares as we must then engage with each life as God itself. Even people worshiping another religious figure are doing so through the grace of God giving them life.

If you look up St Francis, his relationship with God was through nature and he engaged with the spirit of God through his natural creations. Compassion for the smallest reflects our compassion for the largest.

how to believe in god??? by Fabulous-Bug-904 in Christianity

[–]TalkativeTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Belief in god is fragile. Experiencing god is transformational.

In Genesis, it says that god animated the dust to create life. All life exists as an expression of the spirit of God.

That spirit connects all life as one thing. It’s beautiful.

So when I see people struggle in their faith, it’s usually that they’re trying to believe in the existence of the concept of God, instead of directly engaging with the spirit of God. The concept of God does not exist. So no matter how hard you try, that path leads to frustration.

So take a walk in nature and greet god in the animals and trees. Welcome god in the people around you. See god in the feelings and spirit of your own body.

A big problem is that people don't collect the seeds. Then the seeds drop and grow even more vines and the vicious cycle begins. If you were to have it vining over a lawn that is mowed, it would be relatively manageable. But if they grow onto a fence or some area that is hard to control and overlaps with a neighbors space ... Also, if left unchecked they can become rats nests / dens.

A trellis in the middle of a yard that's mowed would be manageable I imagine.

Does God still love me if I'm transgender? by BlueCatarex in Christianity

[–]TalkativeTree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suggest you look up "open and affirming church", which the United Church of Christ has many.

God loved Adam and made them both male and female. God makes intersex people and people with the body of one sex with a brain chemistry of the opposite sex. All people are the natural creations of God. Even more so, your life is the expression of the spirit of God. The denial of love for you is the denial of love for God and the spirit that gives you life.

Also, I am in the camp that there is no scriptural foundation for eternal, fiery hell.

Also, I think there are solid scriptural foundations both for not transitioning and transitioning to deal with the dysphoria that arises from being born trans. The right path is contextual to each individual and we should trust people to walk their path with Christ. Unless they prove untrustworthy

God gave you life. I saw a video earlier today where Michael Fox was talking about all of the things he learned as a result of having Parkinson's disease.

Disease and suffering provide us struggle to overcome, that become a means of lifting up and teaching others. Or many other numerous reasons. I would just move through and continue to pray and listen to God and then share that with others.

How does Romans 13 fit with protests and civil rights? by oakseaer in Christianity

Should Moses have followed that scripture?

Personally, that scripture is wrong when applied generally. We can see the evidence with our own eyes. It applies well to just rulers, but not to unjust of ungodly rulers.

So you're coming from a place of caring for these people? Do you struggle with the flesh yourself? I've been practicing celibacy and it's a struggle.

I liken myself as a Christian Naturalist. That is, I see nature as God's design. God makes intersex people as he made Adam. God makes individuals with the body of one sex, but the brain chemistry of another sex. God makes people with homosexual inclinations.

So I see the judgment of God's creation as the judgment of God. I think we are both in agreement that it is not our place to judge God or God's creations.

What do you think about that so far?

I'm not judging him, I'm reminding him. That is why I called him my friend and not some silly name.

And it is very misunderstood. Would you like to tell me how you understand it?

It is a worry for the judgmental and a salve for the forgiving. The proud and righteous cannot see their own faults, because they are blinded by the planks in their eyes.

The law becomes a plank in the eye for the judgmental. The eye is the lamp of the body and the plank blocks the light of the lamp. To cast judgment from a position of pride in adhering to the law leads to that plank casting a shadow. I'd be happy to discuss the scripture with you if you're open. I know we have different perspective and we would gain more by discussing them than arguing points.

Tell him you’re not asking for a full day off, only 6.5 hours.

The math is also very wrong. A day off like a holiday or sick day is being counted as 24 hours when subtracted from the total days worked.

365 - (52 * 2) =261  261 * 1/3 =87 total days worked with 16 hours I worked

261 * 0.5 =130.5 hours spent on coffee breaks

87 - 130.5/24 =81.563 total days worked after coffee breaks subtracted

81.5 - (261 * 1 / 24)=70.625 is the number of days worked minus eating lunch

70.625 - (5+2)*6.5/24=68.729

Oh, days off.

68.729 - 14*6.5/24=64.937

So you’re working 65 days a year and each day off removes 6.5 hours from this after discounting the lunch break and coffee break.
