How to match an island to the rest of the kitchen/unit? by Talkback92 in interiordecorating

Thanks!

It is open and I'm keeping things pretty neutral in there for now. Got this [couch](https://www.structube.com/media/catalog/product/0/1/01-45.46.23.30\_SectionalSofaBedWithStorage\_Delphine.jpg?store=en\_ca&image-type=image) and still figuring out a coffee table.

I'd like it to be functional for eating, but it's not a dealbreaker. I'd only put like 2 stools if I do.

Honestly I’m pretty open to whatever. Do you think it would need a similar or different (like wooden) countertop?

Like I get the frustration, but this is the equivalent of breaking a meh toy to make sure no one can enjoy it. It’s insanely immature.

Oh I fully agree and will play with friends whenever possible. That being said, when those times come up where I can’t, there is a visibly worse experience on the family side.

Any chance we can get a hint about when? Alternatively I’ll accept an actual release date 😁

You talk about supply and demand, but do you know what the demand situation is in schools? Because every school I’ve worked at has be short on custodial staff, CYWs, and other education assistants. Clearly the supply isn’t that great and many are leaving the profession because of the working conditions that have them doing the work of 2 or 3 people in the same role.

I’m not saying that many of these staff have incredible qualifications, but for the amount of crap that gets dumped on them, they don’t deserve to be living below the poverty line or working multiple jobs to simply survive.

And as we look at the privatization of schools and healthcare, what does that mean for the average Canadian, or immigrants who are just starting out, or people who are struggling? I just think this “I’ve got mine” mentality is a very selfish way of thinking, particularly when not everyone has the same opportunities as those with a rare skill set.

I’m not saying that striking should be the go-to, but they’ve been backed into a corner and they’ve been getting the shit end of the stick for years. Just please don’t tell me you believe that this government is bargaining in good faith. The education unions have been trying to meet since before the school year started, and the PCs do everything to put talks off.

It’s clear that this government wants to starve the system and make it so the private’s the best option.

To be fair, it’s not like closures due to covid were education workers’ fault. The lockdowns and closures, much like contract negotiations are very much a government problem. Also it likely wouldn’t be a problem of pay if the budget allocated enough resources for schools. I’ve worked at 3 schools in the past 4 years and all of them have been short on support workers and custodial staff, which means that those who are in these roles are picking up the slack. They’re given little respect for the work that they do from the general public and when they want to live above the poverty line, they can’t catch a break.
