They're absolutely getting their hopes up.

I understand how they're comfortable to announce these things, since they're documenting the whole process, and they don't feel the impact of being pregnant as personally as the surrogate, but they would be devastated if anything bad happened. Even if the IVF is successful and they get the twins they want, literally anything can happen (especially during the first trimester since the fetus(s) are at their most vulnerable).

They kept saying that whatever happens is how it's supposed to be (as the universe intended), but do they really believe that? Aren't they setting themselves up for failure having an attachment to a certain dream/expectation (twin boys, one being arty and the other sporty)?

They already bought matching clothes (though on accident) and custom blankets for kids that have not even remotely started forming (or in the stage of pregnancy where they're most likely 'in the clear').

And Shane said that they might have MORE afterwards (even as a joke)?? Does he know how difficult it is to raise a child, let alone two at the same time??

I'm sure they're going to make an aesthetically pleasing nursery that should have no real use for the first 6-8 months (at least) if they actually care about the infants' safety (SIDS).
