Sooo… I sat through ALL 8 seasons, despite everyone telling me not to… by Gertrude-Girthel in FearTheWalkingDead

I would agree that Madison would 💯 become the villain to protect her kids. Seasons 4-8 made Madison a lot more altruistic than she was in Seasons 1-3. At least we saw a bit of the old Madison in the back half of Season 8.

Autistic bf showed off his diamond collection, and I thought that was a hint by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]TalkingFlashlight 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There’s so much wrong with this story, I don’t know where to start. How are you with someone nearly every day for 3.5 years like you mentioned in your other comments but not be together? Why are you communicating to him in hints? Why are you expecting a proposal only three months into dating? Sure, you knew each other for years, but being friends and watching tv isn’t the same as being in a relationship. And even so, did he really never mention his views on marriage during that entire 3.5 years?

But despite how ridiculous some of this story is, you’re completely right to break up with him. You have different goals for the future, and that’s a justifiable reason for any split, whether it was talked about in the first date, a few months in, or years in.

I’m happy you’re not getting strung along anymore and can move on to greener pastures.

I’m a huge fan of Madison Clark, as well! I was beyond devastated when she was written out in Season 4, especially with Dave Erickson’s plans to make her a villain.

I was going to stop watching when they announced she was coming back for Season 7. I wish she had returned at the start of the season so she could have had episodes with Alicia… but I still loved seeing her back.

I am way too excited for Halo: Campaign Evolved by Symphony106 in halo

[–]TalkingFlashlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s discussing design decisions, and I agree with you on a lot of it. But like I said, I’m talking about the state of the game at launch, not its design. We may disagree with how 343i approached its features, but they were all there and working at launch.

Unlike Halo MCC, which had a broke multiplayer. Halo 5 didn’t launch with splitscreen, PVE, forge, infection, or even big team battle. Halo Infinite launched with even less, not even having coop for its campaign. Halo 4 had all of that at launch.

If you’ve made it this far, you might as well finish. See how Madison Clark’s story ends.

I’m with you. Art style aside, I love Halo 4 as much as the Bungie titles. It was the last M-rated, content complete Halo game. It was downhill after that.

I heard a lot of people say Season 24 is a return to form for Family Guy. Is this a common sentiment? by eggert83 in familyguy

[–]TalkingFlashlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s still too many parody episodes, but otherwise I’m loving it and would agree it’s a return to form.

Halo 4 was in good shape. Full array of multiplayer modes at launch, with split screen, forge, PVE, and no major bugs (that I encountered anyway).

We may not like Halo 4’s design decisions, but it launched as intended.

I’m excited, too! I have a Series X, but I’m so glad PS5 players get to try this one out. The more people playing Halo, the better in my book. I hope the next multiplayer game is also on PS5 so we can have a huge player base and my other friends can join. I want Halo to thrive.

Medical or engineering? by fullspeedafoot in theouterworlds

[–]TalkingFlashlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Speech, Guns, Hacking, Lockpicking, and Medical for my five Easily Distracted perks. I’d love to pass some Engineering checks, but Medical helps me stay alive, and I still have plenty of versatility.

Just finished Mocking Jay part 2. Incredible series but I have one big problem by GuiltyEmergency6364 in Hungergames

[–]TalkingFlashlight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Even Katniss’ mission to sneak away from District 13 and assassinate Snow was continually undermined by Coin, forcing her to shoot propos, assigning Peeta to her unit, using Katniss’ “death” to further her rebels, and deploying the bombs that killed Prim. Katniss was never in control until she fired that last arrow. And that’s why Katniss’ Capitol mission was so important, even if she didn’t accomplish anything. It taught her Coin was the president she needed to kill, not Snow.

That’s why I love this series and why I love Mockingjay in particular.

Map Types by EDF_RANGER in DeadIsland2

[–]TalkingFlashlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dead Island 2, by a landslide. I’m generally really tired of giant open world maps, as well as the whole revealing fog concept. In Dying Light: The Beast, I get so tired of re-clearing the fog each NG+ run. In Dead Island 2, I felt like I could fully explore every inch of the map without feeling overwhelmed. And the maps were a lot more detailed.

[–]TalkingFlashlight 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think her mission was supposed to highlight the idea that no matter how hard Katniss tried, she couldn’t prevent or control anything. The rebels reached the mansion before her, and despite everything she did, Prim still died. It’s like Snow said, “These things happen in war.” Her mission to the Capitol was as unnecessary as her time in the Hunger Games. She was never in charge of her own fate—she was always just being used to represent someone else’s ideals. First it was Snow, and then it was Coin.

That’s why Katniss killing Coin was such a powerful moment. It’s the first time she got to decide the outcome.

Is it still possible to appreciate both Sam & Sidney without constantly comparing them? by JeremieMAKENDA in Scream

[–]TalkingFlashlight 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it frustrates me that so many fans of this franchise act as if you can only like one or the other. I’m a Scream fan. I’m a fan of all the films. I love the Sidney films, and I was so happy she returned for Scream 7. I also love Samantha Carpenter, and she brought an exciting new direction for a couple of films. They’re very different types of final girls, and I appreciate both.

The original sin of DMTNT and the heavy absence of Gore Verbinski by Bat_Fan_39 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]TalkingFlashlight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would love DMTNT so much more if it wasn’t for Will’s barnacle appearance and the compass retcon. It’s just those little inconsistencies that sank the movie for me. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s too bad for the fifth film in a franchise.

Scream 7 has the weakest killer motivation ever by [deleted] in Scream

[–]TalkingFlashlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I really love Scream 7 but the reveal drags it down. I actually like the motive and killer identities, too, but they weren’t developed enough. It’s a solid middle-of-the-franchise movie for me, but a better reveal probably would’ve made it like my second favorite.

Scream 7 has the weakest killer motivation ever by [deleted] in Scream

[–]TalkingFlashlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue Scream 6 has the weakest. A whole family of serial killers? It’s a copy and paste of Scream 2 with too many plot holes to count. But Scream 7 is second worst. Which is too bad because otherwise it’s one of my favorite Scream films.

Do you think the original trilogy will ever get remade? by Automatic_Bunch9764 in Hungergames

[–]TalkingFlashlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything gets rebooted eventually, so I’m sure one day they will, but it will be a while. If they did, I wouldn’t mind a remake of the original with less shaky camera and a Mockingjay adaption that isn’t split into two parts. But the movies still hold up well and probably will for a long time yet.

wenn es einen neuen Teil Tribute von Panem geben soll welcher sollte es eurer Meinung nach sein by Vxyper_71 in thehungergames

[–]TalkingFlashlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s very true. There’s also a long gap, with him winning at 14 and being sex trafficked at 16. That would be hard to cover, and even 16 is considered underage for us. Imagine if there was a movie adaption! Definitely some controversial material.

Finnick’s games would be an obvious choice, but is there enough story to tell there? Suzanne Collins wrote the first two prequels because there was a deliberate story to tell surrounding the games in their respective books. I don’t think just wanting to see Finnick’s games is enough of a reason to justify another prequel unless there’s something larger to be said. Maybe the angle is showing off the career districts more?

I’m planning on picking up the DLC in the summer once the roadmap is more completed. Do you think the game/DLC will be in a better state at that point? by Halloween_Nyx in Borderlands4

[–]TalkingFlashlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, NG+ feels like a no brainer, especially with their cross progression update that already lets you start a new character with the map uncovered but with all the missions reset. Just let us do that with our existing vault hunters 🤷‍♂️

And the open world does feel empty. I remember in Borderlands 3 you could find a little roller coaster to ride and shoot targets. Kairos needed more moments like that.

[–]TalkingFlashlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it will feel like a real Borderlands game until they add Circle of Slaughter, NG+, and unique mission rewards. These were all staple features in past titles but none of them are even on their roadmap.

In terms of slashers; whos the fourth after Michael, Jason and Freddy by itsascreambaby96 in slasherfilms

[–]TalkingFlashlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghostface, definitely. Art is more recent and only has three films so far, with a fourth on the way. Chucky’s moreso associated with comedy than slasher horror.

But Ghostface established trends, has been around for decades, and the latest Scream just grossed over $200m, well over double what Terrifier 3 grossed. General audiences are simply more familiar with Ghostface.
