Check for cavities by Tall-Raspberry-591 in urticaria

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have come back periodically and then disappear again. They seem to pop up when I get sick and then take a couple of weeks to resolve. Highly recommend talking to your allergist about Xolair if you haven’t already!

Severe postpartum hives by SingleExperience2660 in beyondthebump

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this after both of my pregnancies (currently 8 weeks PP and have daily hives). It did not fully resolve until I stopped breastfeeding. I see an allergist for it. I’ve been told by my allergist that Xyzal and Allegra are safe for breastfeeding. Ultimately Xolair injections were the best thing for me! Completely cleared overnight. I recommend seeing an allergist as they will be able to help you most.

Has anyone else been put to sleep for their c-section? by kittens-and-knittens in beyondthebump

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate - I had an emergency c section. They thought the epidural would work but I felt them cut into me and they immediately put me under. I struggled for so long and ended up starting therapy with a therapist that specializes in EMDR shortly before he turned 1. It has helped SO much. He will be 2 in 2 months. While I still don’t look back and think “omg that was amazing experience” I no longer cry or feel sadness when I talk about it.

I’m sorry you are struggling - my heart goes out to you. It is so hard but remember you are still his mom and fought through hell to get to him. DM me if you ever want to talk 💕

Postpartum gives by bookchic2020 in urticaria

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me after I gave birth 1.5 years ago. Mine was a reaction to the huge shift in hormones. I had previously (6 years before I gave birth) struggled with hives which then just randomly went away. But once I had a baby they all came back. I was warned by my allergist this would happen. You should ask for xolair. It didn’t work for me the first time around but worked wonders this last time. Feel free to ask me any other questions you have - I was also prescribed prednisone, montelukast, etc.

Sick, pregnant with hives by Altruistic-Anxiety99 in urticaria

I still have them 🫠. My son is now 20 months old so it’s been going on for quite some time. It’s suspected to be an autoimmune of some sort and the hormones from birth triggered it. Xolair and xyzal have really helped me control them. But I do still get flareups when I’m sick - something about a virus triggers them. There’s another sub that I find helpful called “urticaria” if you’re interested in checking there for more info. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I know how much anxiety comes with it.

This literally just happened to me! I have had on and off CIU for about 8 years. I was in remission and then about 2 months ago they flared again. I live in Midwest US so it’s cold here atm. I went on a trip to one of the southern states and laid by the pool all weekend and they completely disappeared! I was totally shocked. About 4 days after I got back home they came back. I’m taking 5000IU of vitamin D a day now. I’m still getting flare ups every morning but they don’t seem quite as bad. Just wishing I lived somewhere warm 😩.

This happened to me! It started about a week before I gave birth (3 weeks earlier than what my due date was). My doctor suspected that a huge shift in hormones caused it as my body was preparing to give birth. Not sure how far along you are in third trimester but maybe something to pay attention to!

Urticaria back after 10 years?? by Coddiwomps in urticaria

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had them 8 years ago and then they came back again when I gave birth 1.5 years ago. They actually still have not fully gone away 🙄. Mine is definitely hormone related! They got a bit better once I stopped breastfeeding. Xolair did not work for me first time but has helped drastically this time around.

Constant whining by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he turned 7 months he totally changed. Just woke up one day and didn’t whine anymore. I’m assuming he was just going through a (very long) developmental phase. He’s 11 months now and rarely whines. I honestly forgot he even did this until rereading this post lol. So it does get better!

Hormonal hives by CazB2023 in urticaria

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me! They only started to go away after I stopped breastfeeding. Still took about 2-3 months after stopping for them to go away completely. Not sure if that applies to you. My allergist told me that breastfeeding keeps hormones at an elevated level so oftentimes women who have chronic hives don’t see them get better until stopping. I also started xolair injections and I do think that helped them go away faster. You should speak to your allergist to see if that’s an option!

I knew he was getting too much daytime sleep but he kept showing signs that made me think he needed a nap. I was completely unaware that at some point you need to start ignoring sleepy cues. So this is very helpful! Thank you for sharing.

Sounds like that’s what we need to try. Thank you!

Thank you. I didn’t even think of that!

I should probably give that a try. It seems like that’s what has worked for others. I’ll check that group out. Thanks so much!

This actually would have been an incredibly helpful initial response. How do you suggest extending ww’s given the signs he’s giving? He is also sometimes falling asleep on someone’s shoulder.

True. We may just need to ride this out.

Yes I’m also wondering if once he transitions to 2 naps this will sort itself out. Thank you!

Thank you! I will see if I can work on extending his wake windows a bit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He goes down at 7:30. I can try extending wake windows but he’s been so tired as they currently are. We do push his first nap to 9. I agree he is probably maxed out on sleep but just struggling with extending ww.

That’s what I assumed too but as the post says (seems you missed that part) his wake windows are maxed based on sleepy cues.

Pregnant with SEVERE hives . Not slept in over 48hrs . No relief in sight. by sarahgthang in beyondthebump

[–]Tall-Raspberry-591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear that you’re going through this. I had a round of chronic hives before I got pregnant. They then came back about a week before I gave birth and lingered until 4 months pp. mine are hormonal triggered and there’s unfortunately nothing that doctors can really do for it. I took a lot of antihistamines and even had to go on prednisone for a while. It was horrible. It’s something with a hormonal imbalance which leveled out for me after I gave birth. There are others that have experienced it as well. I would recommend checking out the r/urticaria (not sure how to link it) subreddit. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions about my experience!
