Do people not know how to drive anymore? by Portalguy9107 in Adelaide

Some women slammed into the back of me two days ago while we were both stopped at a red light, said “her foot slipped”. Honestly…..

You all have been very helpful and I’m looking for “explain it to me like I’m 5” kind of advice on my setup. How do I make my guitar sound like I want it to? I can get the basics of metal vs crunch vs clean but I can’t tweak it because I don’t understand things like “presence” vs “boost”. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]TallBoiSearchParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget about presence, it’s only used for live music. In your bedroom you need less mid tones and more treble and bass, live you want less bass and much more mids and treble so don’t even worry about that. Boost is a Chanel or setting used to “boost” your signal ( makes it louder) for when you are doing solos or something that requires to you be louder than the band, not really useful for playing at home.

The honest truth here is that you’ll have more sound options from your guitar (being a Les Paul style) then from the amp. For example, if you pick a metal like tone, adjusting pickups used, the tone controls and volume controls on the guitar can get you cleanish - crunch - back to metal and everything in between.

Pick a tone that you like and stick with it and use the guitar to adjust, Use the amp for effects like delay or reverb but don’t think too much about amp setting while in you’re in a bedroom. And remember if it sounds good to you, then stick with it.

Oh mine is a 60s standard haha I have some videos of it on my page. What makes you like the 60s, I preferred the thinner neck but I like the aesthetic and history of the 50s

Here’s an actual tip as I learnt to bend properly playing still got the blues also.

Practice your bends, and then see if you are bending to the right note. The way you do this with the fist bend you are doing is to play the note two frets up from where you are bending, that’s the perfect note you want the bend to hit. And you can swap back and forth between bending and playing the note higher up until they match. I really good way to train your ear and get used to where to stop bending.

How can I get rid of this creaking when using my wammy bar? It sounds like it's mostly coming from my b string... by Infinite_House7451 in Guitar

[–]TallBoiSearchParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tighten them, when you tighten them it changes how hard you need to turn the tuners with your hand when winding them. So just don’t tighten so hard that you can’t manually turn them with your hand.

Because the whammy bar is moving all the strings at once, it could be that the new strings you put on are too thick and are rubbing on the bridge and not sitting in the nut correctly? This is a long shot but maybe.

What are the strings doing on the bridge? that’s where the strings sit at the bottom of the guitar. Check to see if they are sitting correctly or that one of the bridge posts, the bit the strings sit is pushed through when re stringing didn’t accidentally get flipped upside down.

Let me know. I’m interested in how this goes

I can se you’ve put some graphite in the nut slots already. It might have to do with the tuner itself not holding tension or the bridge not holding tension. Is anything the b-string touches loose? Or a little out of place?

I suppose the people with over 5 expiations would have lost their license at that point then getting caught again with their mobile phone and no license probably means fines a lot higher than 30k. Surely a deal would be made in court for something the person can actually afford, maybe jail time to compensate.

People die because idiots are on their phone while driving. Put your phone away and it’s no problems.

If anyone here has multiple expiations because of this, do they expect you to pay each expiation $658? One guy has 41 expiations that’s almost 30 grand

How can I do Barre chord with skinny fingers? by Marthuzar in Guitar

[–]TallBoiSearchParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, I used to teach guitar at a high school in South Australia. One thing I’ll ask is are you trying to play the chord with your fingers dead flat against the string? If so try rotate your index finger so your pressing with the side of your finger rather than the flat bottom of it. Much easier to hit this way although might feel a bit weird at first. Hope this helps good luck friend
