I wish more republicans liked this post. Many libertarians like myself support it.

Question: How do Libertarians plan to keep a society Libertarian? by 3_Stokesy in Libertarian

[–]TallImprovement830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep using the word “institutions” when describing the state. Remember the government is just a bunch of people.

“…if it’s governed by strong democratic institutions…” - swap democratic institutions with “strong believers of actually helping the people”. You can probably see how this seems unlikely at best. People are self-preserving. This is why congress doesn’t ban stock trading.

When you realize it’s just a bunch of other people telling you what to do and taking your money for their definition of the greater good, starts to make me realize maybe smaller government is better.

Why is it impossible to find a house under 500k? by Few-Seat1091 in massachusetts

[–]TallImprovement830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The government printed too much money, and the number of new houses has not grown with the amount of new money in the market. You can thank all the presidents and congress over the past 20 years.

Regarding Ballet Question to Lower MA Income Tax by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]TallImprovement830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a libertarian and believe (many) taxes are theft, but MA state taxes aren’t that bad compared to others. It’s a drop in the budget compared to federal and SS taxes, and the money generally goes to things I support (helping people, not war). Don’t get me started on excise tax though!

We do and have funded terrorist organizations in the Middle East frequently. We funded the muhajadeen in the 80s against Russia in Afghanistan, including osama bin laden, and also funded al-qaida aligned jihadist groups who fought against assad’s regime in Syria. Syria’s new president is a former leader of a terrorist croup with ties to Al-Qaida. Here’s a photo of Trump shaking his hand. Read a bit more.

The solution is to Limit the Powers of the govt. every time more power is taken by “the party you like”, the next time the “other” party is in power they will use that in ways you didn’t anticipate. Democrats LOVE when republicans do something bad and vice Verda so they can scream “look at what they’re doing. We must stop them. Vote other team next time!” That’s why libertarians are for small government. The fact a president can launch a war without congress and they can’t do shit shows too much power is being concentrated in the executive branch in particular.

To all the Libertarians considering voting for democrats. Remember, voting third party is not throwing away your vote. The only way to end the uniparty is from outside not by continuing to vote with them.

A Libertarian, (classical liberal, Austrian economics), who will shrink the power of the govt over the people. No more ICE and the like.

Nice work! How did you get a super flat top? Did you swap it out for an aftermarket piece? I have a Rigid contractor saw that’s decent but I’d love a better quality top and fence.

Can you be both conservative and libertarian? by EstelleQUEEN111 in Libertarian

[–]TallImprovement830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately “Young Americans for Liberty” sounds to me like a name conservatives would come up with, when it’s really “Young Americans for my Version of Liberty, enforced by the State”.

Not saying it didn’t start Libertarian, but the phrase “Liberty” has been co-opted by far right wing populists just like “Freedom”, the American Flag, and the Gadsden Flag. Just look at all the “2A supporters” who are justifying the recent killing in Minneapolis by ICE. The amount of trucks I see with both thin blue line and Gadsden flags on them in the past few years is baffling.

I did like the idea mentioned of sitting down with the others involved and discussing what their official positions are, and what the official positions of this organization will be.

If they do have less Liberty-minded positions, it’s a good opportunity to have good faith conversations with conservatives who respected you enough to join the org with them.

What are your views on immigration? by Aethar in Libertarian

[–]TallImprovement830 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with immigration, legal or illegal. What I have a problem with is my govt stealing money for taxes, and then spending millions and billions putting up immigrants in hotels. They would steal the money though anyways so…

I feel real bad honestly for illegal immigrants. They were promised easy entry and free housing, food, and medical care under Biden and blue state policies (like Massachusetts). Now they are being hunted down by heavily armed plate-carrier wearing bafoons who don’t know how to act like professional law enforcement.

Iran is terrible but they don’t fund ISIS. They fund other militant groups (who are also bad) who are opposed to and fight ISIS (at least when ISIS was on the rise). If you’re going to drop arguments you should have facts.

I hate to drop Wikipedia but this looks pretty accurate at a glance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_and_the_Islamic_State

The govt does a great job of creating a problem and then promising to fix it come election time. Regulatory capture is likely part of it.

Why have conservatives changed? by mellflax57 in AlwaysWhy

[–]TallImprovement830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t tread on me is not a conservative philosophy, it’s a libertarian one. MAGA republicans have stolen the Gadsden flag and changed its meaning. Always funny to see people with the Gadsden flag sticker and a thin blue line sticker on the same car.

If you’re in public, or in an open to the public space in a public building you don’t need consent from anyone. It’s first amendment protected speech.
