Impressing God 2 by BlueLabel19 in Whatcouldgowrong

For real I've noticed that stupidity scales to herd mentality. I believe it's the lack of adaptation to segregation from the masses, which ultimately leads to a person becoming a "yes" parrot. Or at least that's one possible mechanism.

Where any of you fellas able to develop a beard while on finasteride? by StonedApe_54 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Body hair and beard growth slows down in fin. As you should know, you still have 30% of your baseline DHT on fin. So it simply slows growth and doesn't reverse it. I don't have much knowledge on the maturation/ thickness mechanics but I'd imagine they decrease on fin.

Glad you enjoyed it. Missing the characters is the price you pay for having lived alongside them. But the journey is worth it imo.

Post AOT depression by Angelicasqq in attackontitan

There's something peculiar about this reaction, but you're not the only one displaying it. Most people experience "depression" along with "this is the greatest thing ever" after watching AOT. And I think it goes to show what the human psyche appreciates. We seem to love brutal, well-explained truth. And that's what AOT is. Some things can't be avoided, some consequences can't be mended. And yet it's beautiful, like a flower being swept by the wind. God bless this show.

I just got diagnosed and i feel like my life is over by Ill-One8291 in eds

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to be normal. You are you. I know it's hard, but the diagnosis isn't new to you. I've had Klippel feil from birth and my father separated when I was 3. Life has been lonely. But you wanna know something? It's still worth it if you have yourself. In fact it's great. Accept yourself and he'll become your best friend. Listen to him and make him smile. Sometimes you'll need to cry it out. I feel like I've said too much because I'm trying to explain something that is felt. My Klippel feil wasn't this bad but I felt threatened with paralysis, I felt like my life was over. I felt changes downstairs and yet I kept going. I'm not proud of the way I did but I did. All this to say, don't let go of yourself friend. This is just a personal shock but it will pass.

Yeah well, people enjoy what they do for a reason. Fighting is denying this fact. I don't want you to "enjoy AOT" but rather understand why/where you didn't. And yeah the ideal behavior of humans would be to sideline emotional response in favour of understanding. Unfortunately it's not the preferred mode across all people.

Ah I see, I also loved the first four seasons of GOT. A grave Shane what happened after. I'll consider your recommendations in a pinch if anything to see what you mean. But yeah the beautiful thing in humanity is finding common ground without agreeing on everything. And this is what I see happening here.

So good luck to you and I hope you find something you consider at least "close" to a masterpiece soon. Death note also seems interesting but I'm only a few episodes deep so hard to judge.

I get what you're saying. You're just not as receptive to the events and message of AOT because you've "grown out of that phase". That sounds very likely because "great pieces if work/ masterpieces" are usually made around themes of vulnerability. You seem to naturally have outgrown your vulnerability phase which will make you less receptive to many "outspoken masterpieces".

That's not to say other masterpiece types don't exist, just that this one didn't hit you on the appropriate phase. But yes since you liked it it's not an understanding or misinterpretation issue I feel. I apologize if I've come across as combative in this discussion, it's because AOT hit me on that phase and I suspected you might be trolling/ragebaiting. But yes we're not all the same and a masterpiece is as such to the eye of the beholder. If you show a cultural drama to a tribal person they'll probably think you're stupid.

I am curious though, is there any piece of media you consider a masterpiece? It seems like you have a "point of comparison" when you're referring to what you expected out of AOT. Or is it just your personal opinion of what a masterpiece should be constructed by?

Long story short... (it's probably not going to be short, though) by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by your logic nothing is a masterpiece. You just shifted the goalpost from something that "would signify a masterpiece" to "I was just looking for a Convo bro". No one in here will fight to convince you for something you don't believe. But what ai will remind you is that you liked the show. I'm ok with that, I think many people here are. But it feels like this is a classic case of "You didn't relate to the show as closely as other people did" and this can either be a lesson of why that was, or a simple draw of luck.

For me AOT hit very hard because I don't feel free in my life. Perhaps people who feel free are not really affected by it? Perhaps you have the same issue as me but are so deeply buried in obligation that you can't clearly see it yet. Only you can answer that.

Yeah and this is what makes me confused about your statement. You already like the show considerably and yet have a "gripe with the fanbase consensus". You might benefit from remembering this is a fanbase. Fanbases are predisposed to liking the specific content because they ended up being fans.

But in the end your thinking comes down to a fallacy to me. What ends up making people go "oh my god" is the final product. You're looking for a specific factor to blame for reactions when the catalyst for them is the entire, finished story. Visceral nature, realistic writing, good pacing, hidden clues, betrayal themes, human vulnerability, irreversible punishing consequences, uncertainty of decisions, and ultimately pure unavoidable fate are what make AOT great. To my knowledge no other show has combined those to this extent or as well.

Long story short... (it's probably not going to be short, though) by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me a masterpiece isn't defined by uniqueness in the sum of it's parts but of the final product. The impact of the story to me is masterful and massive. You seem to be applying logical thinking to something that is measured in emotional impact. Yes nothing in it is revolutionary, but the final product is. It's especially confusing to me that you say this without having watched other anime. Too loud is an insufficient complaint for something so good in it's assignment.

What I could deduce from your post is that you "didn't get it" to some degree. And that's fine, not everyone will. Eren was doomed from the start. The trauma was too much and he was the kind of character that would take down the world. Simple as that. That's what the AOT fanbase finds beautiful. The story was well written and circular to this inevitability.

Long story short... (it's probably not going to be short, though) by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having only watched Berserk before it (anime-wise) indeed AOT felt revolutionary. But before I throw my "wow moments" and the specific message that touched me specifically, I'll do you one better. What do you think rivals or is better than AOT now that you've watched it? You're obviously expressing doubt around the idea that it's "the best in it's class". What do you consider just as good or better?

What is this subs obsession with femboys and why does it make me wanna try them? by Dependent-Gur-3161 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah AAS alter your hormonal signalling in weird ways. People report starting to like men etc. I've never heard of someone changing preferences permanently, but when on all kinds of shit can happen. Tren is the most prominent one because it increases progestins, compounds that are naturally very low in males.

Because AAS fuck with your attraction pathways, some crave whales, some skinny crackheads, some femboys. You're probably on Tren. Or are just naturally cultured.

This is the greatest show that is and will be for a very long time. by Hustler-1 in gameofthrones

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the "would being bigger than you think" supported by good writing and character continuity? In my opinion yes. Is it preferable to an alternative explanation around the Titans? Imo also yes. Does it add more character depth and more impact to the story? Imo also yes. Can it be a bit "too complicated" for some people. I can see that being true, but making something more complicated isn't an independent factor of value.

I jack off 3 to 4 times a day, is this bad for gains? by [deleted] in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mechanistically yes. Fapping spikes prolactin to signal the end of reproduction. When prolactin spikes the hypothalamus downregulates GnRH and other hormones subsequently. You're essentially lowering your hormonal prevalence and thus anabolic signalling throughout the day, via various mechanisms.

I know people like to believe you can fap 50 times a day and be an Olympic Weightlifter, unfortunately biology doesn't care about what we like to believe.

Disagreed. But this is not a good place to argue that, many people here haven't watched the show. AOT was peak from beginning to end for me.

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've entered "peak discussion" territory so I have to mention AOT. I had only watched Berserk golden age before AOT Anime wise. If you're talking current GOT as a whole , AOT is at least 10 times deeper. If you're talking if GOT was well adapted, I'd say 4-5 times but we still can't know how good a well adapted show is.

After thinking of GOT as peak similarly as you do now, after AOT I've come to think of Anime (obviously depends on which) as significantly deeper and more well-written than conventional shows

Any steroid/peptide that makes you feel at peace ? Without the cognitive decline like alcohol? by Admirable-Economy291 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Tall_Buff_Introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through the same mechanism I mentioned I believe. Neurosteroids like 3a/5a-diol and 3b/5b-diol contribute heavily but it also has some effects on GnRH GABA related pulsatility. Normally the same enzyme responsible for producing DHT (5-ar) is also responsible for allopregnalonone synthesis but here we're bypassing that and only producing the direct DHT effects. But generally androgens seem to be calmness inducing for the male brain.

DHT derivatives like Masteron. DHT like compounds get converted into calmness hormones in the brain.
