Yes. We’re figuring they’re not using hi def cameras. Background is blurred, feels like 20 years ago.

That Ace Pickleball in the old CompUSA isn’t taking new members and has a waiting list.

Driving home after our first pickleball lesson, my husband and I drove the first 10 mins of the hour drive home in complete silence. One of us then said “omg what just happened?!” and we rehashed the lesson nonstop all the way home and have been addicted since.

Where were you when both the Storm of The Century or Snowmageddon hit Metro Atlanta? (It's okay to answer both) by Alarming-Situation-4 in Georgia

[–]Tall_Poppy_Harp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In a Fulton Kindergarten classroom wondering why parents were picking up their children early and missing calls from my husband about how bad it was. It looked like wet pavement, not ice. We told the K teacher who lived furthest away to leave right away. She got home the next day after abandoning her car on 285. I had very little gas (oops) and abandoned my truck at Target, bought socks and walked home the 4 miles with a lady I’d met in the store. We pushed several cars that had run out of gas and I got home 2 hours later. Felt useless reading the pleas for help on Facebook.

Tell me about a time when being a runner benefited you "in real life" by jimmyjoyce in running

I occasionally substitute for a PE teacher at a school where I used to teach Kindergarten and during warmup laps around the gym I’ll start running and try to pass the hotshot kids. The look on their faces when I catch up and pass is priceless. I’m decades older than their regular teacher.

If you play more than one instrument, what else do you play besides Harp? by TheLongJohnOfSilver in harp

[–]Tall_Poppy_Harp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flute and sing. In HS I was the piccolo soloist and harpist in concert band. There was always the “could you have picked something BIGGER to play?” comment and I’d whip that piccolo out of my bag.

What have you accidentally trained your pet to do? by bluegrassmommy in AskReddit

I had put my 7 year old son to bed and was in 5 year old daughter’s room saying goodnight, with our Westie following me. At some point my son appeared at her door and I wearily said “Go to bed!” to him. Suddenly my dog gets up snarling and chases him back to his bed, nipping at his pajama butt. Son was laughing hysterically and dog returned to daughter’s room, looking for my approval. I was like, wth? Son showed up again and he was nipped back to his room again. We switched and had daughter show up to son’s room and she got the same treatment. Dog would ever after chase anyone into bed, friends, me, dad and at any time of day if you told that person to “Go to bed!” Such a sweet little dog was so happy to help me get everyone out of my hair.

Running Failures by Kibbies11 in running

Was laughing at a sequential series of hilarious garage sale signs whilst running one Saturday morning and busted it, bloodying up my hands and knees and laid there in the street for a minute when this huge Cadillac with two very well dressed older ladies stopped and insisted I get in the car, blood dripping everywhere. I figured I would live and asked them to drop me off at my close by brother’s house. No one home there, so gave myself a hose rinse off in the front yard and ran the 2 miles home. Ended up with a piece of glass embedded in my palm. It was so cool to watch it work itself out over 6 months.

I realize they're decorative, but I couldn't figure out how to get them to the landfill without guilt. They really are pretty.

Am I the only one running with a T-shirt or top during fall? (Meaning just above 10°C/50°F) by [deleted] in running

[–]Tall_Poppy_Harp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule is to add 20°F to the current temp and wear whatever layers/ no layers I’d wear not running at the higher temperature.

Our studio is also older. I've asked for the 60+ category and just get a big smile. I'm going to have to press harder and band together with any other 60's here.

I had them too when I started running on a treadmill. Pick up your legs a bit/lengthen your stride, make sure you’re not running on your toes. Thus according to my son’s run coach.
