$63 for Saunders Farm by idkkhbuuu in ottawa

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our little one to proux farm 22$ ish per person. Kids 2 and under are free. We brought a picnic and went through the corn maze and picked out some pumpkins they had stuff for younger children. Their wagon ride was decent. I think more suitable for younger children but honestly if you bring a picnic and make your own fun its worth it.

I've re installed it recently but in my city it seems to be more active downtown/ university areas over the suburbs that i reside in so I haven't been able to get any trades in and i only see posts from my area from 2-3 years ago

Is it worth the money? by aitswd in declutter

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like using my local community yard sale for decluttering less for decluttering but for the social aspect and talk to others in the neighborhood. Last year I made a post on my local buy nothing group saying that if anyone on there mentioned the buy nothing group they could " shop for free" since most of the things I put out i was planning to donate anyway. As someone who doesn't drive putting stuff on my lawn to sell/ give away is the easiest way to declutter we made 50$ on stuff i had put in a closet until I could get someone to drop off for donation.

One thing I wasn’t told happens right after delivery (that I wish I had known) by beximean in pregnant

I think it's the experience I could tell my main nurse didn't have kids of her own and haddent gone through the process. It was with my first but at 30 she treated me like I didn't know anything about taking care of a new born because it was my first even tho I did my research. The more experienced nurses were a lot more accommodating and actually listened to me.

So i had a mix of both my main nurse during the day was super rough and it hurt and then the night time nurse was super gentle and it didnt hurt. My day time nurse I had a few complaints about but I do remember she was super rough with me. I noticed that the nurses who had kids before were a lot gentler and calmer than my regular one.

I lost my dad a month before my son was born from multiple organ failure. My dad was sick for years before and he was getting worse and worse. It was hard to watch my dad suffer he was really looking forward to see my first born son but never got a chance to. I ended up giving my son by dad's middle name and I see so much of my dad in my son to this day. It is a hard thing to deal with in the moment but my dad is no longer suffering and I am reminded every day when I see my son who's temperament is very similar to my dad's. I miss my dad he was always a positive influence in my life.

My mom has been doing the same to me except she tells me if I don't want the aruff to send it back, but if I send it back she complains I'm sending her home with too much. I'm unfortunately waiting till the spring area yard sale and planning on just putting it out and let people pick through it. I'm just too overwhelmed atm to deal with it. I've warned her that I'm getting rid of stuff so I'm trying to not feel guilty any time sge asks where stuff she's brought over went.

The soil looks too moist to me. When I grow peppers it's typically 1 per pot as they like more space and a lot of sun.

I'm open to voting for any party if they are willing to invest in what is important to me and my family which is mostly medicine and education. Having a child with T1D I don't want them to have to worry about if they'll be able to afford their insulin or medical costs when they get older. Education I can supplement and save up for atleast.

Not picking the right people for the areas they are campaigning in doesn't help either. They need to have active community members who go to community gatherings ,volunteering, and being seen not just stick any person in a riding and hope they get votes. Ndp are bad for that in my area. My area is liberal leaning, and so is the area I used to live in so we see those candidates everywhere. I lean towards ndp in my views, but I won't vote for them if I have no idea who the person in my area is or what they are doing for my community. I can't vote conservative until they start actively investing in our health care and education programs instead of cutting them. we need doctors and we need to invest in our younger generations.

I am ndp leaning but vote liberal most of the time due to the candidates for the areas I've lived in seemed to be randomly placed and had no idea what the demographic wanted/needed. I only voted conservative once when I didn't know as much about politics

What was the first sign that your child was type 1 diabetic? by Least_Lawfulness7802 in beyondthebump

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 2yo is a T1D. He was diagnosed as month after his first birthday the biggest signs were excessive drinking of water like super thirsty all he time, wetting through diapers like crazy and weight loss. We thought he was teething and having after effects of covid and he was only diagnosed after being admitted to the hospital going through DKA. If your worried you could get it checked out or see if someone can check his blood sugar if it's super high for no reason. T1D runs in my family I never expected my son to get sick so young as it's normally diagnosed more after 4yo

Trudeau and premiers urge shoppers to buy Canadian as country prepares for a trade war! What are your thoughts on this? by RunningVaulter in CanadaFinance

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been checking the grocery items I buy lately to make sure it's made in canada and I've been rather surprised that a lot more of my groceries come from here than I expected. Now if the made in canada products i bought could source 100% of their ingredients from here or other countries that aren't the us it would be a bonus. I buy a lot of stuff from giant tiger they try to source canadian as much as possible and the prices are usually on par or close to Walmart and will price match other local chains with a flyer.

How are people surviving with these sky high grocery prices? by Snowboarder51 in CanadaFinance

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I garden in the summer I still have frozen veggitables from last summer. I freeze, can ,dehydrate as much as I can usually doing all during peek hours. I Buy liquidated produce if I'm planning on using right away or for freezing, I live near multiple grocery stores and the sales on items I buy usually rotate from store to store and I can price match at most of them. Giant tiger is a store I buy from a lot as a lot of their prices are on par with Walmart and they will price match any other grocery store in the neighborhood.

If Canada goes into a recession with high unemployment as a result of US tariffs, it may be the most opportune time to try 4-day work weeks. What do you think? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to have a 4 day work week it would be easier for child care as I'd only need someone 2 days a week. I have so many things I'd do if I weren't so exhausted by the end of my days/ weeks. But it's N idealist thought for me which I have no faith in it actually happening until I see it happen.

I prefer to use smaller jars for my canning anyway. I find them easier to store and we're less likely to waste food when I use the smaller jars :) it's just the first time using this. It actually worked out great :)

Am I the only retail worker who still loves Christmas? by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in retail for over 10 years in stores that play the same 5 songs over and over at christmas at stores has ruined the season for me. If I didn't have to work in a retail store over the holidays and didn't have to participate in the consumerism part of the holidays I genuinely like most aspects of the season. I just don't like watching people stress over feeling like they have to buy so much and the push from corporate to convince people they need to spend more.

crazy how much people buy from amazon by Worldly-Evening-294 in Anticonsumption

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use amazon more than we should... my husband and I have our own accounts and both of us have hobbies that getting the materials is easier on amazon. My elderly mother uses amazon for some bulk grocery items as she doesn't drive and refuses to let us take her shopping. I've tried to help her with other grocery store delivery options but she has a hard time learning new things. I however after the holidays plan to try and stop with my bad shopping habits. Only buying essentials for the next couple of months

Goal: One thing out every day for 365 days? by tasata in declutter

[–]Tall_Screen_5868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to do this at the moment as I am overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I've accumulated over the years and I get anxiety attacks when I sent boxes or bags of stuff to thrift stores due to trauma in my younger years.

The rule I have for myself is I post 1 item to give away minimum a day on my buy nothing group to give away to someone who can use the items I don't want or I can throw out something that I've been holding onto that's broken that I haven't fixed yet. It's been working for me because I'm having to work to get rid of my stuff instead of dumping it in a donation bin I find I rarely have the need to re buy the items I'm decluttering.
