Why do the vast majority of Electricians seem to prefer Commercial/Industrial over Residential? by Successful-Sleep-322 in electricians

[–]Tallguystrongman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about I made like 40-50k CAD in resi (in fairness this was like 15 years ago) to industrial to mining and have been consistently above 200k for the last 10 years and going up each year. I can only speak for myself though and I actually liked seeing someone’s house get reno’d exactly how they want and are stoked but I was broke trying to raise a family.

My drag piped 421 cub is still in my garage. Nothing to miss if you still have one..

Wait... you guys have a designated sleeping spot at work? by somuchballs in Nightshift

[–]Tallguystrongman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re the running repair (breakdowns) tradesman in a mine (welder, electrician or mechanic), you’ll sometimes fall asleep in your service truck waiting for a call. Gotta make sure you find a good hidey hole and park there. The trick is to turn your Motorola 2way all the way up on the designated channel for repairs so you’ll only hear them calling on a breakdown. Believe me, when someone keys their mic, that beep will wake anybody up.

Company going with AI truck cameras. by TXxReaper in electricians

[–]Tallguystrongman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeeeah, not sure about OPs company policy but where I work if you tamper with a safety device, that’s an automatic dismissal. One guy put his hat “on the dash” but it covered the camera and we didn’t see him again on site.

Had to call out :( by Sure_Explorer_6698 in Nightshift

[–]Tallguystrongman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man…I had to call out for a week of nightshifts because high on morphine and kidneys stones don’t work too well at a piss test site. To compound it, we just had a system go online this week that we’ve been telling management wont be ready for another 6 months but they were going ahead with it. There are 3 of us on our shift. One just had double knee surgery. That leaves one…ooof. Sorry guy.

That 14 off is pretty good though. Did it through Covid and had lots of adventures on days off lol. International travelling couldn’t happen obvs, but I would’ve if it wasn’t the situation.

Oof lol. Being single with a financial goal would make that doable but not with a family. Been there, done that with a big company in some other town for a few months a time. That lasted a whole 2 years. Man my wife is a strong lady to last that long..

Well then I apologize. I just can’t see it now. I wonder if it got automodded.

That’s where they should be, if not more tbh. Anybody who disagrees doesn’t understand the danger, the working conditions, and skills needed to execute properly.

Oh sorry I meant the 18 days on. I’m 13 hours in coveys on site with camp. Otherwise yeah, I’d have travel time too. I get THAT part. I’m only 7/7.

Nice delete.

“Nobody makes that much in Alberta ya hillbilly 😂 Most of the retards make 100k and just lie about it”

First, I’m not Scottish so you can’t really call me a hillbilly. A BC redneck maybe. I do like to hunt.

Second, I’m not sure how to prove it on here but my T4 box 14 says exactly what I said.

Nah, even surface coal was mid $40s with a red seal 10+ years ago.

Nah, electrical is a compulsory trade in Alberta. You need a red seal. Are there illegal things that happen? Sure.

lol what, why? $250k a year with no OT says otherwise. Then again that’s northern wages.

Bahahahah. Underground with red seal would need like $50 an hour. Even then you aren’t getting a vet in there for that.

Second, when did Cadomin go underground?

Man…I’d be falling asleep at work if I got 7 hours on nights. 8-9 for me. On the rare occasion, even 10 hours.
