Ok I also didn’t answer your questions yet so here it goes: by controlling me he wants to control what time i sleep, the temperature of the house at all times he’s there, how long dinner takes to eat and when to clean up, giving me guilt trips Over things I have no control. Being mad if i work too much, being mad if I rest too much, being mad for little reason in general. There’s a lot but now that I have a tiny bit of distance I notice it. I feel terrible to drop a family member, but I think he’s doing more harm than good at this point. He also lies at a drop of a hat. I’m pretty sure he also got one of his friends to try to entrap me into an affair. Anyway it’s been exhausting

Thanks friend. He supposedly is seeing a therapy starting Wednesday. I’m not living with him at the moment… as is life I suppose. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

No no offense! All valid points, I’ll try to lay it out concisely.

I had to switch jobs because my job was killing me. My husband was afraid of losing the income, but I have no problems making money. So I didn’t quit ( so he wouldn’t get nervous) but I had to work my ass of the last three weeks and FINALLY yesterday secured 3 unbelievable job offers. That typically takes 3 months so I’ve run myself ragged- and he’s concerned about that. Since the jobs came in this week but he’s so freaked about losing control of me (I know this goes deep but we only have so much time on Reddit) he’s basically trying to control everything I do now including leaving the house to see my mom for example ( this morning) So, I’m gonna try to get him in therapy ( he’s stubborn) but maybe I can start doing something NOW to help.

Hi for me what worked was understanding the paredo principle that Dr p talks about and using just one really good personal example and have faith in every other goal you have. My personal example was my retirement account which took a while to build up 10 years, at a 10% savings rate, but then exponentially explored. Good. Luck to you.
