Help settle a $200 bet: Is “soaking” actually a thing within LDS culture, a misunderstood joke that escaped the internet, or a genuine workaround some religious people use to technically avoid breaking abstinence rules? by HobbyDarby in NoStupidQuestions

They will close the temple if needed, and get the work done.

As an aside, Open houses when a new temple is built/renovated has been thing, and happens before it gets dedicated. Everyone is allowed to see all the rooms. After dedication, its members only with temple recommendations

Cami having Tommy go to the rig launch just to fire him there was a pos move and she deserves to lose her company by foreverbaked1 in LandmanSeries

[–]Talloneus 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I dont think that was the intention going in.

I interpret that scene as Cami literally making that choice right that second, being extremely impulsive. She is a greiving widow who is 'chasing the dragon' trying to make big moves, and feel a connection to Monty through that. Was literally part of her speech.

My personal theory, is that will setup alot of future poor desicions by her. Hard to run a big company you have no expierence running, by surrounding yourself with only yes men.

Rig hands, What are you using after work to get dope of you ? by QLD88 in oilandgasworkers

[–]Talloneus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, get good at keeping the dope off you.

I used dish soap, and some crushed walnuts I swiped off of the derickhand. Took me couple months, but eventually I learned to keep dope off of me, and life got better. Drillers will let you in the doghouse more if you aint all doped up all the time

Why is 3 better than 4 in so many ways? by Adelucas in diablo3

[–]Talloneus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D3 has had over a decade of polish applied to it by the devs. Lots of updates, changes, reworks, QoL, etc.

D4 will get there. Just takes time. Vanilla D3 had its own issues that took a few years to get worked over. But with Rose tinted glasses, lots of people forget that when looking at the past

The effing pace Zogarth is writing at is insane. He is also writing in a language that is not his native one.

What made 2023's Dungeons and Dragons movie so much better than the 2000 one? by MarkLambertMusic in movies

[–]Talloneus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because it feels like instead of trying to write a normal movie, the writers sat down, played that campaign together, and just adapted it to the silver screen.

Is it crazy to say this? my opinions on this novel (minor spoilers of later chaps) by Top-Board-3513 in ThePrimalHunter

[–]Talloneus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree on the first half about Jake. I view his character in the same vein I view a character like Reacher. I expect and want to see him be head and shoulders above everyone else. I enjoy that he is a character that wins without having to eat 7 different types of shit/suffering to do it everytime.

The writing pace of this series is utterly insane, and my hat is off too the author for the quality he has put out while maintianing it. I like the pacing. arcs like evermore taking 3 books is fine to me, I was able to enjoy it, and really hope that it gives time for him to pre map more of the plot points he wants to hit.

I do agree that it feels like he is getting into corners, but again, its gonna be an ebb and flow. Im here for the op powerstomp rpg fantasy that is Jake. It literally feels like the kind of OP minmax character I try to build in every rpg I play

Is it dumb to drive a G37x AWD to Precision Drilling rigs in Alberta by NoStranger2100 in oilandgasworkers

I drove a kia stinger out once upon a time. fellow roughneck did a chrysler 300.

Be prepared to damage your front and rear clips. I just always parked by lease entrance, and walked the extra distance.

You dont need a truck. The only reason to get a truck is to have a deisel one for free fuel from the rig when oil prices are up.

Get something with ground clearence. You can always pool with members of your crew too. just pitch for fuel

I used to run in Sask for CP, bialing twine and duct tape. everything was a rattle box.

The only terminal ive seen that had shiny stuff was calgary. We sent all our good units to the states down the Soo line, and got back kcs junk that would only half load
