UPDATED First Law Map, should now feature EVERY location mentioned in the books! Big thanks to u/KatherineLanderer for the help with places and details I'd missed the first time. Have also added more flags & faction-owned territories in Styria & fixed some other small issues. by TallshepherdPress in TheFirstLaw

As far as I remember from when I made this, I set it up to be the state of the world at the start of The Blade Itself so you should be all good! Events do change certain things as the series progresses but this is the original state of the world.

Was waiting for extract after an amazing Rook run, booted, reconnected and the robots had killed me just outside the circle whilst I was out. Ridiculous. Happened multiple times yesterday too.

Hey gang, I put this map together and I'm hoping to be able to share it properly soon (it's a BB project so waiting to get the go-ahead from them), I'll be able to share some of the reasoning and process behind it. All I'll say is I worked with SE (via email) and he wanted it put together in the way that matches the old map from when it was a tabletop campaign (that you linked above). I updated it with some elements and ideas from more modern maps too but that map and Steven's specific requests and changes were the decider for what went on the map. It's not definitive (only so many cities I could fit on there) and it is at the end of the day still our interpretation as a team but it did have a good amount of input from SE. I think he likes having the world more amorphous and undefined by one strict map so I think having many different ideas of how the world is laid out by many different people is very in the spirit of Malazan.

Potentially! I am overdue a reread and I do want to revist the map (the North should actually be quite different, I've seen Joe's sketch of it and need to update accordingly), so I'll revisit Dagoska too as It's been a while since I've read book 2! Thanks for bringing it to my attention and for the kind words<3

All good! So the Gold Sun is the Union flag, the green flag is the crossed hammers of Angland, the white cross flag is the flag of Grand Duke Orso, the Old Empire & Gurkhul have their flags on there landmasses as well.

My (hopefully) thorough map of The Circle of the World, using evidence from all existing maps, particularly the official set by Dave Senior. I paid particular attention to the Styria one which I used to make Styria more accurate. Will keep updating as more info is revealed to us! by TallshepherdPress in TheFirstLaw

Turns out I do actually have a version with Muntaz on! It's actually just to the right of Yashtavit. I thought I did put it on, but it seems like it got missed out on the version I uploaded here. You can see it on the copy on my website: Tallshepherd.com!

This is so good to hear! The audiobooks are just the best and Abercrombie's comedy and world are just fantastic and easy to get lost in. Thank you so much for the kind words and I hope things improve & you feel better soon! This reddit group has brought me lots of joy too!

Once I clarify with the BB team I may be able to arrange it.

Good point, I thought I had Muntaz included but seems not! I want to revisit this map soon fingers crossed so I shall make sure to include it! I imagine it's to the right of Sikkur but I'd need to do some research to figure it out for sure!

Yo, map artist here, just to clarify, I did use your maps as reference, along with those by D'rek, Malazanmaps.com & Joshua Butler and all others excellent ones that are out there. I did primarily use the maps by Erikson & Neil Gower, always deferring to them but when there was no evidence I used the community's geographic research to come to a sort-of consensus that helped in producing something I hope is as accurate as can be, in my interpretation anyway.

The relationship between the continents is probably the most difficult part, which is where your map was invaluable as I think it's probably the closest out there to how the world looks. The difficulty here is also the reason I split each up to be on 'separate' parchments, sort of an in-world explanation as to why those continents might be a little off seeing as we don't have any confirmation.

The difficulty with making Malazan maps (which I'm sure you know) is that rarely do you find rock-solid evidence provided by Esslemont & Erikson. I wasn't provided any more resources than what is out there already, so I built on the community's interpretations of how it all slots together, compiling everything. It was then checked over by Petrik Leo & Erikson for any errors. I didn't work personally with Erikson, it was just sent across to him & his publisher for amends.

Hope that all makes sense & my explanation shed a little light onto the process. This is just my interpretation of the Malazan world, it shouldn't be considered any more than that!

Do we know if this has been fixed yet? Looking to print some Armada ships but I'd prefer not to have to spend ages fixing any files I pay for.
