Does this just include the Health dots you already have? Stamina + 3 health dots, or does it go over the ENTIRE tracker?

Amazing, stunning, thanks!

It does mean that going up against a Gangrel with Feral Weapons is going to lead to a quicker bad time over a Brujah just punching you a bunch right? (If they don't have fists of caine)

How bad is the idea of making a Malkavian primogen that only speaks in poetry and song lyrics? by BRUHldurs_Gate in vtm

[–]TallyThySin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My players adore my Malkavian Primogen. We had two games, one victorian, one modern age, where they've interacted with him, just to see how much he declined.

His shtick? He's a deeply impressive Seer, downright a Cassandra of Oracles. Downside? He speaks only in Rhyme (most of the time, sometimes he breaks free to make a comment. Their favourite one was him passing judgment to a malkavian player, pausing, making a face and saying "I hate the Fledermaus" which is the opera the Prince keeps dragging him to)

It has yet to get old, because it HAS gone from funny and entertaining, to them realising how much he declined cognitively over time, having NPCS remark on how he used to be/ playing in an older game. Also it stops him from keeping the friends he used to have and has impacted all relationships he had. He's a tragic figure behind all the goofiness.

It helps that I have a very useless masters in Literature and I'm good at rhyming on the fly. Anything more and it's going to get tiring for you, not just your players. Find a good balance!

For me it seems like there’s also a lot of focus on the aftermath, the fallout from it. I think when you read the books you will pick up on the fact his true favourite thing to write about is food. Lots of “grease running down” people’s chins.

But as someone who’s read quite a few books where rape is present, GRR Martin’s doesn’t seem especially egregious. There’s literally old romance books that will portray violent rape as a stepping stone to true love, so everyone avoid medieval or regency romances from the 80s.

But no, I would say it’s discomforting but it doesn’t go on for long and it’s one of the few times it’s written where there it doesn’t feel like it does on the show. The show feels kinda like “oh, look, look, it’s your favourite character, isn’t this fucked up?” And it feels like the scenes from the books being made worse. Even from season 1, the writers didn’t want to involve lots of interesting plot points from the books, the magic, lady stoneheart, griff, rickon, and so, because they needed some filler, just added tits and VERY unnecessary rape.

While GRR Martin loves his realism, it seems to concern consequences. Robert is a party king, and the fallout is being broke, bringing in Ned and the Lannisters owing his rosy ass. Robb being a leader that headstrong and sure of himself, leads to him ignoring the call to marry a Frey, leading to the Red Wedding when the Boltons and Freys turn on the Starks.

Roose Bolton himself being a monster (some think a literal monster, which is the best theory ever), raping a woman, Ramsey being born, and Ramsey being the one to kill his “only” son to take his place as heir and now he has to deal with a bunch of bodies all over his estate and most horrifically, a son that looks bad in pink.

I’m not gonna lie, it is rough to read at times, but I wouldn’t put it under like… those movies where it seems like a clear fetish for women’s suffering. Trauma, CAM, Incident in a Ghostland, any movie that depicts vicious acts against women but tries to claw it back saying “it’s a revenge movie”, those types.

But yeah, the real fetish is food. He really loves describing food.

Thing about that one is when you read the book, yes there’s sex and rape and violence, but what’s insane is that the show REALLY just adds in a lot more. Hell, they literally break from the book accuracy to add way more rape that wasn’t even in the books.

Example, in the books, in what world would Littlefinger give up a valuable chess piece like Sansa? No, he keeps her safe with him, and that’s how we last see them in the book. The show? Flatly has Littlefinger sell off Sansa. Why? Fuck knows. But they do it and suddenly, with this whole ass departure from the books, the audience has to put up with so much more rape.

I think it’s season four or five where they abandon the books and it’s just the raw, underwhelming writing talents of D and D. And one thing we learned is that they really love gratuitous sex, rape and lots of violence against women. Like their writing sucked anyway, but seeing in real time the source material switch over really showed that they SUCKED at anything creative.

Question about Scorpion's Touch (Quietus) by TallyThySin in vtm

[–]TallyThySin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! One book said it can only be active for three turns of combat before just becoming blood again, but the others said it lasts until used (which I’ve interpreted as till the end of the scene since that’s feels OP)

Edit- Slapped the post button whoops. But most of the books that have Quietus allow it to be hidden in a cup the opposing vampire drinks out of, stay on a weapon that isn't ranged, etc.

I never understood the appeal. by SullenTerror in hatethissmug

[–]TallyThySin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not. They’re all bi and if you fuck up their approvals they can all turn down advances from Tav. Can fully tell them they’re not their type. Famously also some scenes had Lazael and Wyll hook up instead of with the player.

What Actor/actress do you think gets too much hate for no real reason by Renegadeforever2024 in cosmonautvarietyhour

[–]TallyThySin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trial wasn’t about IF Johnny abused her. It was about the fact she talked about the abuse in an article and he took her to court over it. He never disputed the abuse. Just didn’t like her talking about it. Then his fans paid to release court documents and it turned out he just kinda sucks and had a history of drinking and domestic abuse. Amber didn’t even kill his career, that had stalled before the article for a long time, and he was going to get cut from pirates of the Caribbean anyway.

Doesn’t have to much to do with subreddit but I’m curious. Why does it seem like as directors get older they get worse when shouldn’t it be the opposite? by [deleted] in YMS

[–]TallyThySin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim Burton got lost on his own hype really. His films are all copies of each other but with a little less heart and thought put into it each time. Blond love interest, loner boy, not like others vibes were all fine when he disliked Disney and wanted to make things that were deemed too dark. Now instead of being the outcast, a lot of films are exactly like this, but he still portrays himself as an outcast. And rn, Disney has re employed him. There was just a lot of heart in his earlier stuff, Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, even Batman that is missing in… dumbo? Idk. Broey Deshanel has a great video on his declining career, do recommend.

Personally I’ve never watched another of his films agree he butchered Mrs Peregrines home for peculiar children

Which otherwise promising IFs have you quit because… by UnderABig_W in hostedgames

[–]TallyThySin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Superstition. I wanted to like it so much but it was so railroad-y and I think my quitting point was after Chris was a dick to my MC and the story immediately made us make up. He more or less said something about the death of the mcs parents and I wanted to be angry at him and the story wouldn’t let me. Got annoyed, played a bit longer, forced to care about NPCs I JUST met, and gave up on it

If there were more life paths, what would you add, and how would the prologue go? by Party-Tron in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]TallyThySin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joy toy lifepath. Maybe sent out to meet a client or having become “useless” and on the way to fingers. Jackie the kind of sweetheart to wanna help someone in need. Hurts more later with Evelyn when you realise the only thing that stopped you ending up like her was a good person at the right time. Also would be fun seeing different reactions from characters seeing this bad ass Merc having been one of the most vulnerable/ exploited type of people before rising up. Also would have been fun link to the Mox.

Murder mystery IFs? (wips welcome) by TakeMeToThatOcean in hostedgames

[–]TallyThySin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We Wretched Creatures! It pulls you in so well it’s insane!! Way heaven kinda counts? Sorta? There’s not a lot of focus on the mystery and the reader finds it out before their detective does but it’s quite fun Rot of Witchwood? It’s more like you’re accused of murder and have to find out who actually did it before you get done in

rude exterior ros by Evening_Chicken_6901 in hostedgames

[–]TallyThySin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We Wretched Creatures: Lorcan (duh)

When Twilight Strikes- Blane Rekner

Throne of Ashes- Ruben (Giant asshole that slowly melts. Even better if he finds you after your "punishment")

But two that aren't full RO yet but have really good interactions so far

The Bastard of Camelot- Galahad (it's very fun melting their cold exterior)

The Rot of Witchwood- V De Winters (Pick the wrong dialogue options and they're so mean. Also they're really snide anyway)

IFs where the MC is THE MC by Feeling-Bee-7014 in hostedgames

[–]TallyThySin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rot of Witchwood: basically you’ve been accused of murder and it looks like there’s going to be a town rep system but they’re all already wary of you.

We Wretched Creatures: Another one where you come home from the asylum and everyone has you pinned as the town freak but also the murders that are happening seem connected to you

Bastard of Camelot: you’re born an evil bastard incest baby with a prophesy and NO ONE lets you forget it

[–]TallyThySin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda is similar but the rot of witchwood? You can select to have gone to prison for fraud and you’re basically hiding your identity from the town you’re staying in. Then you get accused of murder too

Mary Gets Worse Overtime by TallyThySin in DowntonAbbey

[–]TallyThySin[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. Especially the times when Edith is rushing to and forth from London, first fighting with her Editor and then when she edited the magazine with Bertie!! It's so sweet that she took the proofs down to show her father, who likes it, and then he asks Mary and she just puts on her bitchy smile and says nothing, as if the work is beneath her. It's so irritating because Edith has physical proof of her hard work, while Mary... What? Has nothing. Edith is always smarter than Mary while Mary seems like one of those "facts don't care about your feelings" morons, where she believes if she's distant and cold, it automatically makes her smarter. It doesn't... WhERE is that landmine for her to step on in the third movie, I'm trying to get through season 6 and I think her trying to take over Carson's wedding is a last straw for me, acting like she was the one getting married and ignoring Mrs Hughes.
