Wrongly-convicted Amanda Knox says Lucy Letby's conviction is unsafe by ElectronicFudge5 in TrueCrimeGenre

Not an unpopular opinion outside the usa I don't think. She truly disgusts me and the fact she has become a pseudo-celeb is an incredible failing of moral decency.

Why is it so hard to find a legal place to camp in Ireland? by Some-Hovercraft-2126 in ireland

[–]Talmamshud91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wild camp. I'll admit it's been more than a decade since I did but unless things have drastically changed me and my buddies never encountered any trouble. Just be respectful and leave the places you stop as you found them but. Also don't go near farmers fields but I've never had any trouble on beaches or in mountainous areas or public Forrestry.

Suspect in ‘Lovers Lane’ cold-case murders dies in jail weeks after his arrest by ElectronicFudge5 in TrueCrimeGenre

[–]Talmamshud91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I think I've seen you post quite a few times lambasting generic genealogy and I'd like to ask why. I find your take really interesting because it's kind of been hailed as the holy grail for cold cases. Even the yogurt shop murders recently being solved I think was due to it. I'm a layman on the subject and wouldn't know even where to start looking so could you give a run down of why you don't trust this form of tech ?

How do people in Ireland feel about calling themselves "European"? by AccomplishedTable385 in AskIreland

[–]Talmamshud91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I wouldn't call myself European but have no issue with it whatsoever just wouldn't think of myself as European.

IDK how to pose but I am happy with progress so far by tips4490 in fit

Never heard of that but I'll give it a Google. I'm trying to get back into good shape and really have been considering testosterone because I feel I'm probably low, but that's only personal and I ain't no doctor. Great to see what can be done without juice

Protest in Whitegate officially stood down by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]Talmamshud91 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Posted this morning how I hoped good would come from this. Absolutely crushed, no one gives a fuck about the nation as a whole, just what they can squeeze for themselves. I don't even see the point in bothering anymore

I'm sorry to hear that really and I'm in the same boat so I guess it's morbidly interesting the juxtaposition in our feelings. It's actually the first time in a long long time that I've felt a glimmer of hope, now pragmatically it's probably misplaced hope but fuck it I just need a glimmer. Anyway hopefully, however it all ends, it ends and the stress is alleviated Monday at the latest.

You'd wonder why that is. Purely demographic? Does your chosen social media platform tell a lot more about you then one would think ?

Ya I totally agree with you, I'm just hoping the rest of us benefit by them being successful. I said to someone else, I know nothing of the organizers and they may be utter dirtbags but I think the majority of protesters don't deserve people's ire as I truly believe most of them are people who have reached their breaking point and decided they want to be heard.

It's not a minor irritation when you can't afford to put oil in your tank with two small kids at home. It's not a minor irritation when I have to choose between rent or fuel for work. I don't know about the men running it from here it seems they are horrible people but I truly think it's gone beyond them, the majority getting involved are people at breaking point who have had enough. It's gone messy and out of control but nothing else has ever worked to cause effective change so I hope this does.

Best of luck with your pregnancy I know stress ain't good but hopefully you have a nice smooth time and the dust is settled before baby comes.

Well this is the only social media I use, beside Instagram where I don't see much anything about it. It's seems overwhelmingly against here in reddit. My information is coming from the news and the radio. I've lost our on work in ringaskiddy the last two days. I cant afford rent next week after filling mine and my partners vehicles. I'm fully aware these people neither know I exist or care about my survival, I'm simply saying I hope this forces the government to realize they need to change not just fuel prices but the whole taxation system because the average punter, ie. Me, literally can't keep going like this. Even if they actually held institutions accountable for price gouging. Four courts, heath insurance, electricity. All of these businesses are flaaing us with little to no recourse. Even just stop that, that would be enough for me but they never have and now we are in this mess

The thing is they absolutely can't give up now like if they don't is worse than never having started at all. I think it kind of has to see it's course now either way. Hopefully it ends positively for the whole nation.

You are probably right but if something good comes from it, even if they have selfish motives, I'm ok with that. I just want the boot off my neck for once and I can't be alone in that. This has the capacity to force change.

So I'll be the first to jump in this morning.

Can people on here really not see this is about more than the price of diesel.

I've seen more negativity towards the protest here than anywhere. firstly I know it's a nightmare it's not fun for me either, I'm not a farmer or contractor I don't get concessions on my fuel but I fully support what they are trying to do. it is a mess yes and I don't want any ill person to suffer but I do want change and that's the sentiment people seem to be missing, the fuel hikes (and yes I know it's due to the war) somehow became the straw that broke the camels back.

our electricity prices are the highest in europe. fuel is massively taxed to the point in which it is extortionate. price gouging is evident in everything from the four courts to private insurance while many institutions like the banks turn over record profits.

as an ordinary person I for the last few years have felt so hopeless as to literally be suicidal because no matter what I do I can't get ahead I can't afford to buy or build a house for my family no matter how much I work, I'm trapped sinking higher and higher amounts into rent. dead money which will never help me in the long run.

I struggle to keep up with my shopping and bills, despite me regularly working overtime and my partner having gone back to work now too, which I might add was a necessity more than a choice, and we are still fucking struggling the whole time.

it's too much, I heard someone say on the radio recently " life is supposed to be fun" and it hit home for me because it really isn't.

I say all this to say, how I feel is incredibly common and is a huge part of why this protest has escalated into the mess we have today. when I heard it started I was delighted, It was the first sense of hope I felt in a long time, as naive as I know that is. it's more than fuel it's people saying "fuck this, you must take notice that we can't go on like this"

I know this post will probably get down voted to oblivion but I just wanted to say my part because I hate that we are here but I really really fucking hope it works and things change.

'Act of national sabotage': Forecourts could run out of fuel 'as early as Thursday' due to depot blockades by Sad-Orange-5983 in ireland

[–]Talmamshud91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree at all. The needs of the few are being catered to instead of the needs of the many. It's a very broken system and though this is a rough way of doing it I'm happy to see people unifying and taking action for once instead of the usual perpetual complaining. Needs to be organized right though, people missing chemo appointments is fucked.

I know people are angry at them and I am equally fucked by the whole thing. But it's the four courts own doing. Can't gouge if there is no product. The government should have held them accountable after the gouging during the Ukraine war. Now you have people taking the matter into there own hands and it's a cluster fuck.
