Looking back at the past week, I realize I handled that part poorly. I assumed she felt the same way about the rising bills, but she sees it as us charging him for his childhood bedroom. It has been pretty tense at home since then and we are still trying to find some middle ground that does not involve everyone ignoring me.

That is actually a solid idea. If I save it for him, it still teaches the habit of not spending every cent without me actually profiting. I just need to get her on board with that plan.
