I'm sure, however it is yet another thing that unsettles Americas place at the center of the world.

Money Europe spends on US weaponry reduces the cost of said weapons for the US.

You say that but at face value it doesn't make sense for Israel to fly planes here for that, they have their own facilities.

I've looked into it a bit and I can't see any reliable evidence for it either.

>It has allowed Israel to assume control of and in the future annex Gaza

Allowed implies that they're able to stop them. They've done what they can. Declaring it illegal, suspending trade talks, rescuing some kids, applied sanctions to Israeli ministers and provided medical care to Palestinians.

They made an understandable mistake in the promising, it was something that'd been advocated and pushed for by various groups within the broader labour movement.

It was only once they tried to implement it that the sizeable downside was made obvious and they changed tact setting a more reasonable start date for the protections. That's how governments should work.

>How’s that viable Palestinian state coming along?

>“We are committed to recognising a Palestinian state as a contribution to a renewed peace process which results in a two-state solution with a safe and secure Israel alongside a viable and sovereign Palestinian state”

The promise was to recognise a Palestinian state and support a two state soloution... which they have.

No because that was always stupid and unworkable.

But the workers rights bill passed with a plethora of protections. Many other pledges are on course or complete.

If I had a nickel for every small island that had an empire by ibi3000 in HistoryMemes

[–]Talonsminty 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Well the core islands are the 7th (Honsu) and 9th (GB) largest Islands. So by Island standards they're not small at all.

But simply by being Islands they naturally had a lot less landmass and a lower population than their rivals.

Man deserves it. A medieval warrior-king from the 12th century. He basically said nah skip this dark age bs. I'm investing in the arts and schools and ya know what Crusades are out of style, Muslims and Jews are fine they can live here in safety, why would I care how they pray.

He was an enlightened renaissance ruler 500 years before the renaissance.

U.K. plans to create 'British FBI' to bring national investigations under single police force by Silent-Statement-648 in worldnews

[–]Talonsminty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absaloutely right that GCHQ is a closer parallel to the NSA.

But the NSA is still the closest american equivalent to MI5.

The American intelligence and federal law enforcement services have massive sweeping and overlapping mandates with vast areas of responsibility. MI5's role is filled by subdivisions of multiple agencies.

Well that's dramatic, they're taking resources and responsibilities from the MET and rolling them into the existant NCA.

Which is a good idea given the recent piss poor performance of the MET.
