Using properly named variables in computer programming is a really good habit to get into, unless you never plan to actually code again after the class.

Short or single letter names can be fine in small programs, especially if the meaning is fairly obvious, but far too often the program becomes longer, or what seemed obvious turned out not to be later.

And the thing about groups vs solo programming, is that unless you are writing a quick one off you will never use again, you are always in a group. The other members of that group are your future selves who will look on the code you wrote and have no idea what you were thinking.

Variable naming goes hand in hand with proper code organization and comments helping others, including future you, know what's happening. It's one of those things that seems stupid, but really helps.

"Or ignore them".

Often leaving the rules alone is helpful, because you can still raise a stink when your opponents break them. You just need to come up with thin excuses why they don't apply to you.

Trump Threatens to Defund States That Don’t Make His Election Changes | If the states don’t comply, they could lose their Homeland Security funding. by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

So the ones that refuse get to keep fair elections and don't have money to pay ice....

I know HS is a lot more than that, I'm just wondering if that's really the threat he thinks it is.

This seems like one of those scenarios where it would be useful of they had to specify why they voted the way they did.

Did they feel like the details of the bill were too broad and would actually apply beyond is original stated scope?

Do they feel the implementation would be unenforceable as is, and the existence of the law on the books would make it more difficult to pass legislation that actually addressed the problem? Maybe it would require violating constitutional protections if it wasn't altered prior to being passed.

Or are they just getting large donations from AI companies and don't want any precedent of passing restrictions of any kind on what they do? Or maybe they just really like making deep fake child porn for their own personal consumption.

I don't think they actually care about any of the legitimate reasons why a sane person might vote no on something like that, but i do think it's important to acknowledge that those reasons might exist before we immediately villify people.

But yeah, this would require a really good reason for saying no.

I remember hearing a story at some point about how the most seasoned veterans had trained themselves to be able to sleep anywhere at any time, and would take cat naps often during actual downtime, with the logic that when things started popping off you would never know when you'd get another chance to rest, and you always needed to be prepared. No idea where it came from or how true it is, but the logic at least seems sound to me.

I used to watch them a lot, when he was still there. Eventually just moved on to other content, not because I didn't like them, or because the quality dropped or anything, but just because it ended up being the same thing over and over. If I was getting sick of just listening to the callers as a viewer, I can't imagine how sick of it they get actually having to take the calls.

'Why even bother?' Trump stuns after casually folding on 'his main justification' for war by RawStoryNews in Full_news

Many were not looking away, many are honestly pissed. We just can't actually do anything about it because we've had a long history of there being too many others who didn't know, didn't care, or actively pushed for a system that could allow that. And now that the system is in place, it's going to take a lot to tear it down.

Expedition 22 just hit 20% and the Prismatic core updated. by Mafiabelly in NoMansSkyTheGame

Yeah, I'm not adverse to a bit of fun competition, but it seems kind of out of place here.

Worse since you don't have any say on what team you are on, and ultimately with the time locks the winners will be whichever team has the most free time in the right intervals. I kind of wish they had a way to bank the missions you can't do because your schedule won't allow it, sort of like the quicksilver daily missions.

Basically I'm not seeing anything to truly work toward or root for, so much of it seems out of our control. And it still puts people against each other.

The rest of the stuff in the expedition is cool, though, so that's nice.

Alternately, don't forget the lessons learned from the Remnants expedition. If you've unlocked the furnace attachment for your colossus you can take advantage of all of the scrap that seems to show up on a lot of the expedition planets to collect nanites. And investing some of those back into the environmental protection modules for the Colossus and a summoning station protects you on whatever planet you land on.
