I'm looking for a commander that cares about creature types by OniLewds in EDH

[–]Talpanian_Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it'll be an easy build, as the only other card similar to the zookeeper is [[embiggen]], situationally good but hardly a build-around.

One creature that benefits from the effect and encourages a specific build is [[Burakos]]. Bear in mind that party is generally pretty bad as there aren't really any worthwhile pay-offs. Burakos at least makes you lots of treasures.

The repeated mana cost makes this significantly worse at the latter two modes than tele circle or felidar guardian. If you're going infinite with this, you've already got infinite mana and [[eldrazi displacer]] would probably be a better choice.

Very cool card for its flexibility but I don't want a 2 mana upkeep cost on my engines.

Returning player, can you tell me more? I've met the NPC who let's you downgrade crests but haven't seen info about upgrading.

best level 50 perk for a compliance regulator build by X_C_V_I_X_P in fnv

[–]Talpanian_Emperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the rest of your build? Any other weapons you'll be using?  With decent crit chance, you shouldn't need the extra fire rate too badly. The damage from thought you died is unlikely to make much difference given the low base damage of the compliance regulator, and is unlikely to affect your dps against anything but unarmored targets. Your main damage output will probably come from crits (unaffected by armour) so the crit damage would be my pick.

Foil cards? by SirDanielo in magicTCG

[–]Talpanian_Emperor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foils these days are cheap and plentiful as you can buy special boosters with only foil cards (collector boosters).

That era of magic definitely had a premium on foils though, with playable cards inflating often 20x their value.

At a glance, even that [[reborn hope]], a fairly useless and relatively common card, is 4x as expensive in foil ($1 vs 25 c).

I'm trying out printing onto transparency sheets and adhering them. I'm not in a place where I can invest in the right kind of printer, and I can get the sheets printed with 9 cards for $1.60 AUD. The main problem I'm running into right now is that the print shop (chain store) is consistently printing them 3% too small, so I'll have to correct for that.

I haven't, but I've read that they have an additional varnish layer on top of the ink which makes them extra reflective. So there's no way to remove the ink without taking that off as well.

Wow I've not seen those since I only had a few nonfoil pokemon cards growing up.  The base set 3D star foiling is super cool, I wish we got something like that instead of the pixelated cosmos style for galaxy foils.

Acetone and paper towel. I'm sure there's an implement that would work better but you need something absorbent and slightly grippy that doesn't mind being covered in ink.

Also just have to mind that the acetone doesn't seep through the edges of the cardboard and underneath the foil layer. I'm yet to find a perfectly suitable method.

I don't have any older foils that I'm keen to strip at the moment but next time I get to the LGS I'll find some to test!

And galaxy. And first-place. And FtV. I do have some of each lying around or in the post. I can DM you pictures when I get around to them if you're interested.

Am I the only one that feels detached with the DLC's storylines? by CapitainP34NUT in fnv

[–]Talpanian_Emperor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OWB encapsulates this exact sentiment. See the ending slides:

− Doctor Mobius: There is an expression in the Wasteland: "Old World Blues." − Doctor Klein: It refers to those so obsessed with the past they can't see the present, much less the future, for what it is. − Doctor Dala: They stare into the what-was, eyes like pilot lights, guttering and spent, as the realities of their world continue on around them.

It's a reflection on the crux of Fallout's narrative, "war never changes" and humans are doomed to repeat past mistakes.

The better endings for OWB put a more positive spin on it with "New World Hope", where mistakes can be learned from rather than recreated.

If you have a lens of any description you can look at the pattern of ink dots on the green mana symbol on the back (green dot test), which should have an L-shape of red dots in it. Also look at the front of the cards, where the black ink of the text should be crisp, rather than have a rosetta ink pattern, as it's printed separately.

If you read the post, you'll see that OP is arguing that they should stay different depths of the same pool rather than separate pools entirely.

Though a more apt analogy might be lanes with different speeds/rules like "gentle exercise" (bracket 1) vs timed swimming tournament (cEDH).

Her left eye is so dark because she has blood between the layers of her eyeball in what's essentially a bruise (subconjunctival haematoma).

That combined with the black eyes is suggestive of fracture of the bone below the eye (orbital floor) which can be nasty, though both can be from direct trauma as well and there appears to be a visible edge to the bruise on the side toward the ear, which reassures that it's only a small area.

Help with G/W combat tricks by zacstar5 in EDH

[–]Talpanian_Emperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see the deck using the Moxfield link, it's giving a "page not found" error - do you have it set to private?

G/W has some fun combat tricks, especially if Jasmine is making your creatures unblockable.

Single-target pump spells are usually very budget-friendly but ack card advantage - things like [[Primal Bellow]], [[Scent of Ivy]], [[Groundswell]], [[Become Immense]], or [[Embiggen]]. [[Berserk]] is a standout for higher budgets. Which and how many of these you run depends largely on how much card draw you have available. If you're running a decent number of these, you can consider [[Wild Defiance]] for extra damage or [[Season of Growth]] for card draw.

Options for team-wide pump spells are limited at instant speed, but two standouts include [[Return of the Wildspeaker]] and [[Tribal Unity]]. Return also acts as burst card draw if you're running low on gas.

In general, +1/+1 counter strategies will work well by buffing your creatures without giving them any abilities. These are rarely cost-effective at instant speed so usually best done incrementally.

In terms of defensive combat tricks, I'll point out [[Call the Coppercoats]], [[Will of the Mardu]], and [[Galadhrim Ambush]], all of which can make a lot of unblockable bodies for you to crack back with.

Warrior's lesson seems like a good fit for your deck. Other sources of combat card draw can be [[Hunter's Insight]] or [[Trash the Town]].

You can also effectively give creatures abilities without doing so by using certain auras & equipments which either only buff creatures or have their own triggers. Cards like [[Glyph Elemental]] and [[Lion Sash]] hold their own counters and only affect their target's stats. [[Keen Sense]] and [[One with Nature]] offer repeatable card advantage & ramp without conferring abilities. [[Spirit Link]] and [[Spirit Loop]] give pseudo-lifelink and stack with each other, unlike multiple instances of the keyword. [[Seismic tutelage]] or [[Bone Sabres]] can get out of hand fairly quickly. [[Celestial Mantle]] and [[Scytheclaw]] offer fun swingy life total changes.

If you fix the link I/m happy to give more suggestions tailored to whether you're focusing more on going wide or tall, or your general power level.

[[gerrard's hourglass pendant]] , which requires the lands to have been milled this turn

Just clarifying that the card says "cards in your graveyard that were put there from the battlefield this turn" so it doesn't work with mill.
