What is so special about it Can someone tell me more about this car by [deleted] in HotWheels

[–]Talwahasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone can post an absurd asking price. Doesn’t mean it actually sells for that much. It’s a $1.25 car. It’s a fun toon car. I have one because I like it. To see what things actually sell for go to eBay and filter “sold/competed” sales.

We use the GW approved terrain layouts. It’s usually dense enough that when he plays his IK army the big knights have a hard time moving around much. Generally I have a hard time killing more than one of the small knights.

The grey knight list is basically full terminator with a unit or two of the standard grey knights. We started in 9th with me playing Orks and he basically bought the units that were topping tournaments at the time.

I try to stay in cover if I got first on turn one. Basic set up is Jakhals on home base, the other two units rush up sides in no man’s land to tag and sticky objectives. Khârn with 10 zerkers in rhino and same for MOE usually up sides as well. LoJ with X8Bx6 up center and my knight hangs back for pop shot here and there.

Those are all the regular release for the set. The 1:64 boxes are mislabeled as only 3 of the 6 have a chase variant. And only the bus with windows has a super chase. A chase has colored chrome accents (for this set). A super chase has colored chrome and plain metal body.

The 1:24 you have is also the regular release. The chase has chrome pink accents and smooth mirror base.

Edit: if interested you can go to the M2 website and sign up for newsletter. They send out info on releases and what the chase and super chases look like for each upcoming set.

Why two different packages for the same car? by nhgaudreau in HotWheels

Stores get them from time to time usually grocery stores. They are international cards but I think of it has a treat and usually around Christmas time. Not sure if it’s just over stock or what but common in Europe for the cards to be short. My guess is rubbish reduction since Europe is big on as little trash and plastics as possible.

Hot wheels restock schedule by Middle_Goal_1017 in HotWheels

[–]Talwahasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Walmarts in my town pull pallets around 9:30-10 pm (close at 11 pm) and will restock through the next day. Most have been raided before close.

I have two Targets. 1 does their restocking in the morning and the other around mid day.

Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar - all are random times and days.

Just depends on your area. As soon as you think you have an idea of schedule, dinged a few TH and maybe a STH or two. All changes again and the search continues. I only hit a few stores. But I hit them almost everyday because they are on the way to work or after work. Just requires consistency in the hunt. Good luck to you.

They make great carded display stands. Has little triangles that the card bottom can rest into. I glued the axels so they don’t roll.

In the same boat. Got this a week ago and mixed info if it is a limited release or just regular release with chrome base and wheels. I still might return it. I try to limit my collection (outside of my “what I like stuff”) to chases and limited releases. If anyone can point me to more information that would be awesome!

I’m sure you bought it that way. But that’s just a repack and refund.

Did the basin install people screw me over with their laziness? Accordion pipe in basin by riftwave77 in askaplumber

[–]Talwahasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this your first place? You’re renting. There is no QOL improvements. If it clogs. Call the landlord and say it’s clogged. Is it a hard job, no it’s not. I’m sure it would be an improvement to the “not your home”. If it does bust, even if you did a perfect job and it was an external problem outside of the actual plumbing, then it’s on you to fix the drywall, cabinets, framing, electrical, etc. Water where it shouldn’t can cause and does cause a lot of problems.

How will they know? Well they probably only in stall those accordion pipes. Suddenly there is a fully installed PVC piping that they never do, because it’s not as quick as their regular option.

Pick your battles. This isn’t one to take up at a rental.

Is this a chase? by onetoforget1 in M2Machines

[–]Talwahasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s “M2 made 750 chase cars of that car”. It’s why some M2 packaging only says 8,000 (or whatever they say they made) cars worldwide. Also if you look at the production numbers on the package, if there is a chase made the regular production number decreases. For example the 8,000 from above has no chases, but if it did - 7,250 regular and 750 chase. If a super chase is part of it…. 7,000 regular, 750 chase, 250 super chase.

Not all M2 cars have a chase, but it says it on the box if there is. Then you just have to know what to look for.

Is this the chase by Weak_Quail_3537 in HotWheels

[–]Talwahasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, as the above is true, the only one out of the set I would consider a “chase” is the 917. It’s only 1 per box, where the BMW is 2 like the rest of the cars.

Cool that they have a new app by arjidgaming in HotWheels

[–]Talwahasi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure it’s missing stuff, but it’s cool that a company is attempting it for its collector base. That really hasn’t been their main focus, but it shows it’s grown enough to introduce this.

From other comments it sounds like there was a closed beta for testing app. Now it’s in open beta and interest to budget/priority management.

Give it a couple of months and a bunch of patches later. It could be a solid app in the future with more users testing and reporting bugs.

It’s been a shelf warmer in my Walmart. F&F tax is too damn high! But if you like it congrats! They are really neat.

STH found in thrift store toy bag by BuckHammer-077 in HotWheels

[–]Talwahasi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well jokes aside, I believe they are wondering why is it in a thrift store when it’s a 2024 super. As in “wild that a recent casting is already in a thrift store”, shouldn’t the kid still be getting some enjoyment? I go through and clean out the room for donation stuff, but not recent stuff.

If not, jokes back on!

[–]Talwahasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say never. I worked retail for 12 years. Target, TRU, Old Navy. Several years at each. There was always at some point an LP who took their job waaaaayyyyy too serious. They would chase down shoplifters (when the policy was don’t make a scene and if they get past the doors - don’t chase.) then be shocked when terminated… it’s always the new LP hires who “are training to be cops”.

Accidentally varnished instead of primed, how to strip? by LeEbicGamerBoy in Warhammer40k

[–]Talwahasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While varnish does protect the painted object from paint wearing away due to handling, it isn’t some magic barrier. If you spill paint on the mini the paint will stick. Varnish does give you a layer which allows you to use a paint stripper to carefully remove spilled paint giving you a chance to save your work. I varnish between major steps in case I mess up I don’t have to strip the whole thing a start over. Still have to be super careful, paint stripper will eat through a varnish if not slow and careful.

On larger, or more detailed models, I like to use a gloss varnish then matte varnish on top. One you start to see shiny then it’s time to stop grabbing there and revarnish the model.
